Lawrence Academy competes in the 16-team Independent School League (ISL), which consists of selective college preparatory schools in and around the greater Boston area from as far north as Byfield, Massachusetts to as far south as Newport, R.I. The Spartans Head Coach is Jason Swepson. This is a position he has held since 2018. Swepson served as head football coach at Elon University from 2011 to 2013, compiling a record of 10–24. Previously, he was the running backs coach under Tom O’Brien at North Carolina State University and Boston College. Swepson played running back at Boston College from 1989 to 1992. In 2022, the Spartans finished with a overall 7-2 record that included a NEPSAC Todd Marble Bowl Championship.
Team Overview: The 2023 Spartans Team will be focused to keep the fire burning as they head into the 2023 season. As we look forward to 2023, one thing to know is Lawrence Academy will compete at a competitive level this season.

“Landolfi” Brought his magic to the ISL this weekend and didn’t disappoint. In fact, he gained even more respect from many coaches after his performance this weekend. Landolfi wound up 17 of 24 passing for 224 yards with four touchdowns and an interception, tacking on 73 rushing yards on seven attempts He is a sure fire recruit who resembles “Doug Flutie qb” type play. Making his first year Prep Level performance look easy, his talents are exciting and worth the price of admission. An athletic QB that can hurt a defense in the air or on the ground. He can shift gears in a hurry. Has excellent vision downfield while on the run. A tough-minded QB who wants to win. Makes good pre-snap defensive reads.

Trainer Jay Fielding Comments: Mike is a technician when it comes to playing the Linebacker position. From my experience working with him during LBU sessions, his technique is what separates him from the group. He is also a strong and powerful athlete that uses his explosiveness to get off of blocks. His block destruction, quick and aggressive hands, coupled with his relentless motor make him a legit linebacker. He has very good lateral quickness and he can change direction while maintaining body posture. While working with him at B.O.N.E camp what stood out to me was his aggressiveness while pass rushing and his ability to bend and stay tight and low rushing around the edge. He is conditioned to play for 4 quarters and the kid goes all across the country to improve his game. He is the son of a great DC, so he understands how to lead a defense…. Mike will be one of the top Linebackers in MA in the fall of 2023

Yet no linemen listed below carry more mass than Lawrence Academy’s Derek Schlupf Derek Schlupf 6’5″ | 300 lbs | OL Lawrence Academy | 2025 State NewE . The sophomore’s tape shows off just how violent he is as a down-blocker from his left tackle position. Great location ability, gets off the ball, sees his assignment and goes. Not too many false steps when run-blocking. Aggressive finisher, carries much of that aggression from early on in his reps. Slides laterally well when zone-blocking. Eats up bullrushes without a flinch in pass-pro sets. Said pass-protection sets show off how special his build is. His frame is perfect for his role in the offense. Good testing numbers, he’s a prospect on the court as well.
April 2023 – An easy 6’5, 290+ pound tackle prospect out of Lawrence Academy. Another lineman that received a Division One grade out of me. His tape, albeit a bit shorter than I’d like, provides a wide spectrum of the kid’s capabilities. Great upper body strength, is more than likely a weight room warrior with the press he’s able to get off his chest. He gives attention to hand placement, can improve but is already proficient here. Another violent finisher. Coaches will rightfully be concerned with his lower body, how stiff is he in his back-kick or on the go. The kid’s a giant, watching him work in pass protection and attempt to stay balanced and fluid was a pleasure. Excited to see a five-minute tape out of Schlupf this time next year.
