One of the best running backs in Class AA is at Frankfort with 2024 Tyrique Powell Tyrique Powell 5’10” | 200 lbs | RB Frankfort | 2024 State WV . The 5’10 200 rising senior entered our 2024 rankings in the last update and made our Top 100 and #13 ranked running back in the class. Powell is a well-rounded runner that has the size and power to run inside the tackles but also has the speed to break it to the outside. I really enjoy his running style and he’s always using his hips to make defenders miss and change direction. Powell also has a thick strong build and is a hard runner that will almost always break arm tackles. He should have a huge senior season in 2023 and will likely shoot up our class rankings with a healthy season.
Frankfort has a nice one-two punch in the backfield with Tyrique Powell Tyrique Powell 5’10” | 200 lbs | RB Frankfort | 2024 State WV and Landen Kinser Landen Kinser 6’0″ | 170 lbs | RB Frankfort | 2024 State WV . Kinser splits carries with Powell and the two pair nicely together. Kinser is a chaotic runner which I mean in the best of ways and is tough to bring down. He’s at full speed as soon as he touches the ball and does everything he can to not be tackled. Kinser sees reps at tailback and wingback in their Wing-T offense and they like to get him the ball on the outside. Kinser has good speed but is also a physical runner that will break tackles consistently. He has very good vision and can make cutbacks and changes direction well. Kinser has good size for the position at 6’0 170 and appears to be a strong athlete too. He is a name we are watching to enter our 2024 rankings in the future.
Matthew Jackson Matthew Jackson 6’0″ | 260 lbs | OL Frankfort | 2024 State WV was a Class AA Honorable Mention All-State performer as a junior for the Frankfort Falcons and will again be a stalwart on their offensive line. Jackson is a little undersized but anchors the Falcons’ offensive line at center. The 6’0 260 rising senior has added weight since last season and picked up his first college offer from D3 Waynesburg (PA) this year. Even as a smaller offensive lineman, Jackson overwhelms defensive linemen consistently and is a pancake machine. He plays with good leverage and is a very physical blocker at his center position. Jackson is a large part of the Frankfort running game success and does a great job opening holes in the middle of their line. He should repeat his post-season honors for his senior year.
Highlights
One of the bigger offensive linemen in Class AA this season will be Frankfort’s, Hayden Nester Hayden Nester 6’2″ | 300 lbs | DL Frankfort | 2024 State WV . The 6’3 300 road grader lines up all over the Falcons’ line but will likely be a guard at the next level. Nester is a dominant force in their heavy run game but his pass-blocking abilities are a bit of an unknown due to their scheme. Nester often overmatches defenders with his size and strength and is just too big and strong for most Class AA defensive linemen. He has a powerful punch and does a nice job driving defenders backward and to the ground consistently. He’s also a starter on the defensive line where he could also play in college. I expect Nester will receive some accolades this season for his senior year and a name that will enter our 2024 rankings in the coming updates.
Frankfort will have one of the top 2026 specialists in the state of West Virginia with Rhett Sensabaugh Rhett Sensabaugh 6’1″ | 150 lbs | K Frankfort | 2026 WV . Sensabaugh handled the kicking duties as a freshman for the Falcons in 2022 and already showing early signs of becoming a very talented kicker. He can already hit from 40+ yards on field goals and can drive the ball inside the 10 on kickoffs regularly. Sensabaugh is consistent on PATs and as he continues getting stronger he should be able to extend those numbers easily. Look for Sensabaugh to finish his high school career as one of the best kickers in his class and state.
