Western Indiana Conference may have some schools you have never heard of but there are hidden gems with some serious talent. These prospects all had promising Sophomore seasons last fall and are looking to stack another great season on top. Less than a week away from game 1 and the anticipation is rising. Keep an eye on these great prospects in week 1 and the rest of the season.
Jace Deakins Jace Deakins 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Northview | 2025 State IN is a 6’1″ 210 pound two-way player for Northview High School. Sophomore season stats include 34 solo tackles, 25 assists, 59 total tackles, 1 TFL, and 2 sacks. Defensively, Jace shows to be a gritty, physical linebacker. When he hits someone, it is a collision, no more forward progress for the ball carrier. Jace also plays tight end and shows to be a good blocker at times. The technique has some work but he is physical and not afraid to put his face into the defender and drive. Jace Deakins Jace Deakins 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Northview | 2025 State IN is a 2025 prospect that is going to grow into a big-time prospect over the next two years.
Highlights
Malachi Mink
Malachi Mink
Malachi Mink is a 5’11” 175 pound RB from Indian Creek High School. When you watch Malachi run the ball, it looks so smooth and natural. He is shifty and quick from the start of his run until the end. He makes big-time plays due to his great vision when running the football. He plays with great balance and is able to bounce off a defender and pick up an extra five yards. Do not try to arm tackle Malachi because he will just run right thru them. Malachi Mink is going to be a firework this season and will be fun to watch over the next two years.
Levi Pappas
Levi Pappas
Levi Pappas is a 5’10” 165 pound RB from Indian Creek High School. Levi’s sophomore rushing campaign consisted of 78 carries, 338 yards, and 6 TDs. He also had 28 receptions, 402 yards, and 3 TDs. Levi is another RB that does not go down easy for Indian Creek. Levi runs with a purpose and makes plays all over the field. I enjoy watching him make cuts back across the field and pick up major yardage. He lines up as a wing sometimes and for some reason no one ever picks him up in coverage when he runs a bender (automatic TD). Levi Pappas has a bright future at Indian Creek and will have eyes on him for the next two years.
Gabe Drew Gabe Drew 5’11” | 190 lbs | RB Edgewood | 2025 State IN is a 5’11” 190 pound RB from Edgewood High School. As a sophomore, Gabe had 94 carries, 701 yards, 8 TDs, 7 receptions, 125 yards, and 1 TD. Plain and simple, Gabe is an electrifying and explosive RB. He is patient and has great vision while carrying the football. Gabe is obviously is big play guy but he also gets the nitty gritty yards. When he knows there are no other moves, he will lower his shoulder and run right through the defender. He even makes big plays when he catches the ball. Get Gabe Drew Gabe Drew 5’11” | 190 lbs | RB Edgewood | 2025 State IN the football and watch good things happen.
Wyatt Mullin Wyatt Mullin 5’11” | 180 lbs | QB South Putnam | 2025 State IN is a 5’11” 180 pound QB from South Putnam High School. Wyatt threw for 1,354 yards, with a 62.9% completion percentage, 15 TDs, 6 INTs, and 8 rushing TDs. This young man can sling it! He has a quick release and has an absolute cannon of an arm. Wyatt can put it in tight spaces and drop dimes deep down the field. I threw the rushing TD stat in there because he has wheels. The young QB has a good understanding of the read option game. When he tucks it, there is a good chance the defense is not catching him. Wyatt Mullin Wyatt Mullin 5’11” | 180 lbs | QB South Putnam | 2025 State IN is a great athlete and has a bright future at the QB position.
Parker Harris
Parker Harris
Parker Harris is a 6’2″ 251 pound OT from South Putnam High School. The young OT started as a Sophomore at right tackle last year for varsity and crushed it. Not only did Parker crush last season, but he also crushed his opponents by bulldozing them every chance he had. Parker dominated the line of scrimmage and made paths for his ball carriers. The most encouraging thing I saw on film was seeing him block downfield and make blocks in space. His play style is physical, nasty, and dominating. Parker Harris is a legitimate OL prospect to keep an eye on over the next two years.
Tayt Jackson Tayt Jackson 5’10” | 175 lbs | ATH Cloverdale | 2025 State IN is a 5’10” 165 pound QB/DB from Cloverdale High School. Tayt went 92/180, 1,011 yards, 11 TDs, 11 INTs, and 3 rushing TDs as a Sophomore. Offensively, he is a dual-threat QB that will beat you deep down the field and outrun the defense with his legs. Tayt’s athleticism is unmatched by opposing defenses. Defenses struggled to keep him in the pocket and when they did he found a way to beat them deep with his arm strength. Tayt plays on defenses and shows to fly around and cause havoc for opposing offenses. He is a ball hawk in the secondary and is not afraid to make a collision. Tayt Jackson Tayt Jackson 5’10” | 175 lbs | ATH Cloverdale | 2025 State IN has some serious talent and I am excited to watch him develop into a great prospect.
