Continue ReadingIllinois has a lot of talent at the wide receiver position in the class of 2024. This list compiles 5 guys who have been flying under the radar so far as they enter their senior seasons. All these guys have big time playmaking ability and will make a big impact for their teams. Keep an eye out for these names all year long.
Baxtron has big play ability. At any time he can take a jet sweep or a bubble screen to the house. He has great quickness making him extremely hard to tackle in space and if he is running full speed he’s gone! When Baxtron has the ball in his hands good things happen for Cahokia. His return ability is something that sets him apart from most players in the class of 2024. I suspect they will keep maximizing his touches all year to capitalize on his big play ability.
Max Loveall
Max Loveall
Loveall picked up an offer this summer from Northern State (D2) and for good reason. At 6’4 he is a tough match up for most defensive backs. He is a good athlete that can create separation. Even at his bigger size he still has the ability to get in and out of his breaks. He is able to bring down most 50/50 balls whenever he is single covered. He a physical wide receiver that is ideal for his position at the “X” spot.
Leonard Spates
Leonard Spates
Spates can do it all for Auburn. He has the ability to be moved from the outside to the inside slot and not skip a beat. He understands how to break the cushion of defensive backs making him hard to cover. He does a really nice job adjusting to throws with his body control to bring in balls. Spates is someone I suspect to get more recruiting attention as he progresses through his senior year.
Jay Saunders
Jay Saunders
One word to describe Saunders would be “solid”. He scored 7 touchdowns with 615 receiving yards last year as a junior. He is a smooth route runner and has the ability to run by defensive backs. Saunders has natural hands often catching the ball away from his body. This year I look for Saunders to have even better numbers as he puts stamp on his football career at Unity.
Aidan Dotson
Aidan Dotson
Dotson is a big body wide receiver. No surprise he also plays on the basketball team at Manteno as well. His basketball ability shows in his game when goes up over defenders to catch passes. When he is split out wide he is often a mismatch for undersized corners. Dotson could project to be more of a tight end in recruiting but either way he is a playmaker and someone to keep an eye on this year.
