Here is a breakdown of the top 10 senior receivers in Orange County entering the 2023 season.
10.
If Kucera had played a full season last year, he would have been a 1,000 yard receiver with double-digit touchdowns.
He caught 33 passes for 538 yards with five touchdowns in just five games last season for a young Dana Hills team.
Kucera has a good counterpart in receiver Chase Berry, but the Dolphins have a new quarterback with zero varsity experience.
He is a slot guy with good hands who has the strength to lower his shoulder to overpower secondary guys. I expect Kucera to be on the county leaderboards all season long.
9.
Dylan Gardner Dylan Gardner 6’0″ | 190 lbs | WR Yorba Linda | 2024 CA was the second leading receiver on an outstanding Yorba Linda team last season.
He caught 43 passes for 714 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Gardner is the only returning receiver who got meaningful playing time last season so it’s not crazy to expect a double-digit touchdown season from him.

Hayden Eligon Hayden Eligon 6’4″ | 190 lbs | WR Los Alamitos | 2024 State CA is a guy who had to wait his turn behind some top receivers in the nation at St. John Bosco and recently transferred to Los Alamitos.
He caught 13 passes for 183 yards with two touchdowns for Bosco last season.
Eligon is lengthy, athletic and packed on some major muscle this offseason. He had a nice showing at the Under Armour Camp and had some of the scouts in attendance talking about him.
7.
Russell Weir
Russell Weir
Corona del Mar always has a lengthy outside receiver who breaks out for a huge season every year. Weir isn’t as lengthy as guys from Sea Kings’ past, but he can beat guys in multiple coverages and bring down 50/50 balls.
Weir caught 48 passes for 726 yards with six touchdowns last season.
He has the upside to be a 1,000 yard receiver this season and has great chemistry with quarterback Kaleb Annett.

As a college prospect, Jack Ressler Jack Ressler 5’11” | 185 lbs | WR Mater Dei | 2024 State CA is one of the best in the county. He is committed to Oregon and had 23 other offers.
Ressler is a talented slot guy with great hands who can make plays after the catch. He had 42 catches for 534 yards and four touchdowns last season.
In 2020 I covered the pandemic game between St. John Bosco and Mater Dei, and multiple Mater Dei coaches told me to keep an eye out for Ressler as a future star and he has lived up to the hype.
