Continue ReadingThis class of receivers have proven themselves to be some dogs. I love this class of receivers because they are so athletic. They also love to put in the work they need to be successful. They also have some guys that are playing multiple positions and getting their shine on. Let’s check it out.
Jordan Stapleton Jordan Stapleton 5'8" | 180 lbs | RB West Harrison | 2026 State MS
This young man rushed for 315 yards in his first game. He is 5-8, 175-pound scat back that is probably going to play slot receiver on the next level. This past weekend was my first time hearing his name. Stapleton could possibly be another Warrick Dunn style running back. I think that Dunn was a running back that had a lot of heart. Stapleton is that same type of running back. He also has a lot of speed. Let’s talk about his twitch. Stapleton is a guy that is shifty. When he makes a cut, he is gone. This young man is a guy to know.
Aydan Newell
Newell is a big 2026 offensive lineman that helps paves big roads for his rubbing backs to run through. He reminds me if a Floyd Pork Chop Womack style lineman. A guy that can move, but also has a lot of strength. When I watched his film I was highly impressed. Newell is a guy that is already doing a great job competing against some of the best talent in the state. He has a nice kick step that allows him to have great balance in pass coverage. Keep your eyes on this kid.
Mickell Smith III Mickell Smith III 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Northwest Rankin | 2026 State MS
Smith is a athlete that has some hips. One thing I noticed about his game is his ability to recover. Smith has some good feet. He also does not mind coming up to make some good solid tackles. Smith is a player that is going to be on the division one level one day. Smith also does a great job of staying on top of his receiver’s top shoulder. He is a guy to know.
Gunnar Goodwin Gunnar Goodwin 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Kossuth | 2026 State MS
Goodwin is a very good offensive lineman from Kossuth. Goodwin is a guy that has a lot of strength. He moves around with a lot of anger on the football field. Goodwin is a guy that reminds me of Bruce Matthews. He is a guy that can play multiple positions on the offensive line. Goodwin has a very good football IQ. I love the way he is able to be a big factor in the passing game and running game. Goodwin is a guy that is also going to be a leader for this Kossuth team. He is the kind of guy that always wants his running backs running behind him. I expect for Goodwin to have a very good season this year.
