Here is a look a five Vikings who have college aspirations to play football. Three of them are seniors and the other two are juniors. All five were impressive at practice and are expected to be starters for the Vikings.
Callen Barta Callen Barta 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Seaman | 2024 State KS , ATH, 6’2”, 180
Anyone who keeps up with our site is familiar with the name Callen Barta Callen Barta 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Seaman | 2024 State KS . Barta has already committed to play college ball with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He is currently ranked as the No. 57 prospect in the class of 2024 by Prep Redzone. He was very impressive during practice. He did not take off any reps. He does not have an ounce of fat on him, and he has excellent ball schools. Barta is the only Seaman player who will more than likely play both ways. The Husker staff is looking at him as a defensive back.
Tristan Berg, SS, 6’1”, 160
Berg has played wide receiver for the Vikings in previous seasons, but entering his senior season he offered to focus on playing just on the defensive side of the ball. He runs well and can cover, and he wraps up on tackles. He has not received any college offers at this point, but it would be hard to believe that in-state NAIA and JUCO programs would not give him a look. He is willing to play at the JUCO level which shows his level of maturity and understanding of the recruitment process.
Garrett Griffin, OL/DL, 5’9”, 250
Griffin is on the squatty side, but he is super strong. He looks like a guard and plays like one. He is a tough young man and has put in work in the weight room. Griffin can squat 600 lbs. He has awesome power in his hips, a great first step, and is fast enough to get out on a lead block on plays he is required to pull. He is hard to move, well balanced, and gets under defenders’ pads and just locks them up when pass protecting.
Max Huston Max Huston 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Seaman | 2025 State KS , QB, 5’11”, 225, ‘25
Huston enters the season as the Vikings’ starting quarterback after also starting as a sophomore. He has a quick release. He is a perfect size to be a dual-threat quarterback. The most impressive thing he did during practice was not getting frustrated by multiple dropped balls. He was poised, did not show any signs of aggravation, and moved right into the next rep. When all is said and done, he should be a highly-ranked three-year starter.
Hayden Cummings Hayden Cummings 5'8" | 190 lbs | LB Seaman | 2025 State KS , MLB, 5’7”, 190, ‘25
Keep an eye out for this young man. He is lean and mean. Cummings is hard-nosed and is chiseled like a statue made by Michelangelo. He can play coverage or just run south and knock the snot out of ball carriers. He is an obvious gym rat and moves well laterally, and has awesome closing speed. He is also a grinder who attended multiple camps this summer to improve his recruitment stock.
