While there are some big names to consider for Player of the Year, there are plenty of players that could spark their team toward a deep postseason run this fall.
We created a preseason public poll to vote on who will win Rhode Island “GATORADE” POY for 2023. Voting ended at 11:55 a.m. ET on Aug 10, 2023. The following recruits were the top five vote-getters in our Poll, that are projected by the public to win the 2023 Rhode Island P.O.Y after this season is completed.

What we know about this recruit: He attended a series of FCS camps summer 2023. No offers at the time of this report. First team All-Division Track and Field! He is ranked as the #13 Defensive lineman in New England in the class of 2024. He tackles with a low pad level below the waist with a wrap-and-roll technique. Has a very good burst out of his stance that allows him to shoot gaps successfully. He defends the edge well and doesn’t over-pursue while showing patience for any reverse play action. Does well chasing backside when ball is going away from him. Has a very large frame with length in his arms. HEAD COACH COMMENT: “Young man is a leader, great student and can apply pressure to the QB. Marcus is athletic enough to play on the varsity basketball team too.”
