Players to Watch
Offense
(RB/LB) Niko Duffie Niko Duffie 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Green Hill | 2024 TN – Green Hill: The top dawg on the Hawks roster, Duffie is the senior leader and major contributor on both sides of the ball as the team’s starting running back and run stuffer on defense. This is a college prospect that can continue pushing his stock higher with a big senior year.
Highlights
(RB) Jaisaun Ousley – West Creek: The engine that runs the Coyotes offense, Ousley is the key the Hawks defense must key on Friday evening because if the Clarksville area running is allowed to go-off, the road team could have a shot at pulling off the upset.
‘25 (TE) Aaron Mattingly Aaron Mattingly 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Green Hill | 2025 State TN – Green Hill: Mattingly will be the top college prospect on the field Friday night and a mismatch problem for the Coyotes defense. His size and natural athletic abilities are hard to deal with, especially when he lines out wide, providing him space to work.
(WR) Daniel Honeycutt Daniel Honeycutt 5'10" | DB West Creek | 2024 TN – West Creek: A versatile performer for his Coyotes team, Honeycutt handles several roles from playing some quarterback, wide receiver and over on defense at safety.
‘26 (QB) Kannon Burroughs Kannon Burroughs 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Green Hill | 2026 TN – Green Hill: Get to know about this Mid-Tennessee quarterback as Burroughs has the arm talent, mechanics and size to make his way into the college game, maybe even the D1 level.
‘25 (QB/Ath) D.J Swanson – West Creek: Swanson could share duties at QB w/ Honeycutt but this athletic underclassmen brings dual threat abilities to the backfield that could present problems for the Green Hill defense.
Defense
(DL) Kail Burroughs – Green Hill: A senior defensive leader, Burroughs is the Hawks top D-lineman this year that must play at a high level each and every game. His performance in this contest will be key in the Hawks efforts.
(DB) Jayden Hines Jayden Hines 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB West Creek | 2024 State TN – West Creek: The top college prospects for the Coyotes, Hines is a well versed defensive back that plays with strong technique but also the athletic upside to play cover corner on the collegiate gridiron.
Highlights
(LB) Dane Ivie – Green Hill: Ivie is the Hawks top linebacker that will be one to watch Friday night as the Coyotes will look to run the ball a lot and this Mid-Tennessee product’s play will be key in his team’s shot at pushing their record to 2-0.
(DE/LB) Darrick Brown – West Creek: If the Coyotes provide a pass rush against Burroughs, a lot of it needs to come from this guy. Brown has the measurables and talents to create speed into the backfield, causing issues for the Hawks offense.
(DB) Dallas Jackson Dallas Jackson 5'9" | 160 lbs | DB Green Hill | 2026 TN – Green Hill: An opportunistic defender who goes both ways for the Hawks, Jackson is the most talented prospect Green Hill has in the secondary and someone with playmaking abilities to make game changing plays.
(S) Nate Lucas – West Creek: Joining Hines in the Coyotes secondary, Lucas will be asked to step up big in this game as he will be the last line of defense as he tries to provide blanket coverage against Burroughs and the Hawks passing attack.

Game/Team Analysis
– The second week of football action is always an interesting period as some teams look dominant then fall flat the next week and that will be the challenge for both Green Hill and West Creek as they take on each other in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee this Friday night. The Hawks come into this contest at 1-0 after taking care of business on the road in Clarksville, 44-13 over Northeast while the Coyotes remain away from home after taking defeat to LaVergne, 9-6 in a hard fought, low scoring game. Both these teams are coming into Friday’s matchup on different emotional levels as the Hawks can’t be complacent after the win and come in flat while the Coyotes need to be hungry, pushing for that first victory.
Green Hill has a team that is mixed with veterans and youth with several youngsters playing key roles this year for the Hawks. Sophomore quarterback Kannon Burroughs Kannon Burroughs 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Green Hill | 2026 TN looks like an impressive talent with a possible future on the college level. He is complimented on offense by two-way talent Niko Duffie Niko Duffie 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Green Hill | 2024 TN and stud junior tight end Aaron Mattingly Aaron Mattingly 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Green Hill | 2025 State TN . The O-line is where questions reside for the Hawks. That will be the area where the West Creek defense can take advantage and cause issues for Burroughs and the Green Hill backfield.
The Hawks defense provides balance to their offense as they have the makings to be a top notch unit this Fall, especially if some young guys come along. They are led with their front seven as seniors Duffie, Kail Burroughs, Alex Sunday Alex Sunday 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Green Hill | 2024 TN and Dane Ivie run the show with a young secondary that should get better as the season goes along. The one guy to know about on the back end is sophomore Dallas Jackson Dallas Jackson 5'9" | 160 lbs | DB Green Hill | 2026 TN . He has a ball hawk mentality and knack for consistently being around the ball.
For the Coyotes, they are looking for answers coming into Game Two as they were basically shut down on offense by LaVergne but it’s a new week and a new opportunity to improve and get better. Their offense is based around their run game with senior Jaisaun Ousley being the lead guy. He is a strong, well balanced back that can take-off if the Hawks defense allows it. Ousley will need to receive help up front from a questionable offensive line as well as the skill players around, including Daniel Honeycutt Daniel Honeycutt 5'10" | DB West Creek | 2024 TN and D.J Swanson.
The West Creek defense is a different story at the moment as they played well last week, holding a Wolverines offense in check and keeping their team in the game. More work and development has to be done on this side of the ball but the Coyotes have a shot to be pretty good this Fall on defense.
Trench work is always key in any game and for the Coyotes, they are a little thin here but have some guys that can get the job done. One guy to know about is edge defender Darrick Brown. The West Creek senior has the height and length to cause havoc off the edge, so he should certainly be someone the Hawks offensive staff has their eyes on.
Another senior to know about is cornerback Jayden Hines Jayden Hines 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB West Creek | 2024 State TN . This 6 ‘1 long and technically sound defender is the Coyotes top college prospect and someone that will be tasked to guard Mattingly along with several others on the Green Hill offense and be expected to limit their production. He can get the job done but Hines must receive help from several others on the back end to shut down a good Hawks receiving corp.
It will be interesting to see how both these teams come out in the first few minutes of the game to see their approach and mindsets. It will also be intriguing to see if the Coyotes offense can gain any offensive momentum and push against the Green Hill defense as I expect the Hawks to move the ball pretty well.
Prediction/Score
– First thing I look at when doing these previews is each team’s rosters and right now, the Hawks are better. Now that doesn’t mean Green Hill will win this game but they will have more talent, so West Creek must find ways to generate points and keep their defense off the field. The Coyotes also have to find a way to get pressure on Burroughs and limit the offensive possessions for the Hawks.
It will be a tough challenge for West Creek because of Mattingly, Duffie and others but I think they can hang with them for a while due to the play of Hines, Brown and the Coyotes well coached defense. Keeping this game close and being right there in contention for the win in the 4th quarter is the recipe for success for West Creek but it will be tough.
Green Hill I believe is too balanced on both sides of the ball for West Creek to come out on top and while I think the Coyotes will play tough, in the end, they will fall to 0-2 and the home Hawks stay undefeated.
Score: Green Hill 35 West Creek 10
