Continuing to build hype for the rankings update, I am introducing four players that you should expect to see on this go-around. These four new names have either emerged during summer camps/7v7 or are coming off a splash opening week(s).
Check out these four new names coming to the rankings!
Nick Halpin Nick Halpin TE Mount Michael Benedictine | 2024 NE | 2024 | TE | Mount Michael Benedictine
In an already legendary tight end class, Mount Michael’s Nick Halpin Nick Halpin TE Mount Michael Benedictine | 2024 NE is a name that could join them once more coaches catch wind of him. Nick is a tall, strong, tight end that runs very good routes for his size. I caught him at a few 7v7 events this summer and noticed how well he attacks the ball when it’s coming his way. Halpin has a bigger frame that allows him to box out DBs and elevate over them when the ball is in the air. Strong hands through the catch, even when facing contact. Sleeper TE to keep an eye on this season.
Eyston Behrens Eyston Behrens 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB MIllard West | 2024 State NE | 2024 | LB | Millard West | 6’1″ 195 lbs
Lost in all the madness that was the Millard South vs. Millard West game was a quiet but impactful performance from senior linebacker Eyston Behrens. Behrens ended the night with 15 tackles and two tackles for loss. Eyston really flashed his ability to fill gaps and make sure tackles in open space. He flows to the ball very well and does a great job slipping past blockers at the LOS. Eyston has a high football IQ that helps him analyze offenses during pre-snap and react quickly to the ball once the play starts. He mostly lined up as an inside linebacker, but I also saw some plays where he was able to roam a little bit before the snap, which one ended in a TFL when firing off the edge. Great motor, high upside… jump on this one QUICK!!
Blake Hawkins Blake Hawkins 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Gretna | 2024 State NE | 2024 | LB | Gretna | 6’3″ 230 lbs
The Dragons just reloaded with talent in their front seven. None had a bigger Week 1 impact than senior Blake Hawkins Blake Hawkins 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Gretna | 2024 State NE . Blake blew up in the season opener with 10 tackles, 3 TFLs, three sacks, and a forced fumble, making his presence felt immediately. He is a very violent player who plays with explosive hands and likes to hit hard when he gets to the ball carrier. Hawkins’ motor keeps him attacking the ball from snap to whistle with the lateral quickness to track down QBs and RBs even when attacking from the backside of the play. He is strong enough to fight through blocks but also has the speed to beat linemen right off the bat with his get-off. He’s versatile enough to line up in several different ways including with his hand in the dirt or as a stand-up edge rusher. Expect a nice debut for Blake in the update!
Tyler Aldridge Tyler Aldridge 5'10" | 140 lbs | ATH Lincoln Northwest | 2024 State NE | 2024 | WR | Lincoln Northwest | 5’10” 140 lbs
Currently #2 in receiving yards after two games, Lincoln Northwest’s Tyler Aldridge Tyler Aldridge 5'10" | 140 lbs | ATH Lincoln Northwest | 2024 State NE has come out firing to start the season. Tyler has hauled in 7 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown while averaging 25 yards a reception. There’s still a limited sample for Tyler’s game, but from the looks of it, it seems like he does a great job providing a deep threat for the LNW offense. He has a good burst when getting off the ball with solid acceleration to challenge the defense vertically. Aldridge does a great job tracking the ball in the air and adjusting to it if he needs to. Looking forward to seeing how far Tyler and this offense can take Northwest this season.
