Continue ReadingPowell High School faced off against Farragut High School on Friday night and it was one of the most exciting matches of week 2. After going up 14-0 early in the game, Powell gave up the lead in the second half to lose 28-21. Despite the loss, Powell had some good moments in this one but weren’t able to hold onto the lead in the 4th quarter. Following this awesome matchup, here are some of the standouts for Powell High School.
Connor Wheeler Connor Wheeler 5’9″ | 175 lbs | RB Powell | 2025 State TN displayed his big play ability again in week 2 after an explosive week 1. He started the game with a 70 plus yard touchdown run, showing amazing vision, footwork and burst to hit the hole. Powell’s offensive line deserves some credit for creating some good running lanes. Wheeler had a fumble but made up for it with another long TD run. Overall, he showed amazing patience, staying square to the line of scrimmage and great understanding of how to setup his blocks.

Dylan Stooksbury Dylan Stooksbury 6’0″ | 160 lbs | K Powell | 2025 TN had the 1 other touchdown for the Powell offense on the day. He one on a deep vertical route down the field showing excellent speed and tracking on the play. Good understanding of how to stack vertically, he looked comfortable in that area for the whole game. Stooksbury looked very solid at the catch point the entire game on all his targets.

Deuce Rodgers Deuce Rodgers 6’3″ | 220 lbs | QB Powell | 2026 TN showed some nice poise for a sophomore at the quarterback position. He made good decisions for the entirety of the game. Rodgers was dropping dimes down the field on vertical balls. As mentioned earlier he connected deep with Stooksbury but had multiple other balls dropped that would’ve been huge plays. Good velocity and touch, he displayed nice accuracy in and out of the pocket.
Abu Keefer Abu Keefer 5’10” | 190 lbs | RB Powell | 2025 TN made multiple plays for the Powell defensive unit. He was one of their best players stopping the run and got involved on almost all the run stops. He showed a good understanding of run concepts and overall instincts. Keefer recovered a fumble and also made a nice impact to force that run to help. He displayed a nice consistency throughout the game.
