We take a look at some of the standouts from the NWGA area for Week 2. Some are Seniors but quite a few are underclassmen that need to be on your recruiting radar.
Judson Petty Judson Petty 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR North Murray | 2024 State GA -Ath-’24 North Murray
The 5’11 180 Senior WR/DB had a game to remember Friday night. He hauled in 16 catches for 360 yards and 4 touchdowns. He added 9 rushes for 42 yards in a 44-37 win over Pickens. The first thing you notice about Petty is his vision. He is patient and waits on his blocks and has a good first step that gets him to full speed quick. Has the speed to separate from defenders once he gets past the 2nd level. He had over 2000 yards total offense last season with 24 TDs, including at least one rushing, receiving and passing. Has offers from Reinhardt and Hendrix and we expect more as his Senior season progresses.
Skyler Williams-QB-’25 North Murray
The 6’3 195 Junior had a great game in just his 2nd start at the QB1 position. He completed 21 of 32 passes for 462 yards and 4 touchdowns. The dual threat QB was just as dangerous with his legs rushing 10 times for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has good footwork in the pocket and avoids the rush while keeping his eyes down field. Good throwing motion and release that gets the ball out quick. Accurate deep passer and at 195 a physical runner when the play breaks down. All Region last year on the defensive side of the ball as a Sophomore. He has big upside potential.
Jeremiah Gamble-RB-’24 Model
The 5’11 175 RB/DB plays a lot bigger than his listed weight. Solid compact build with the quickness to get around the corner and breakaway speed once he gets around you. He had a breakout game Friday in a 29-6 win on the road at Pepperell. Rushed for 109 yards on 7 carries, including an 83-yard TD run for the Blue Devils first score. He added 3 solo tackles on defense including a safety. Model has a lot of offensive weapons so Gamble may not get the 20-25 carries a night like most of the RB1 in the Region but his productivity should have him in consideration for All Region at seasons end.
Tray Lewis-RB-’25 LFO
How about a standout performance and a breakout performance all rolled into one? The 5’6 170 Junior did just that on Friday night. He had 24 carries for 276 yards with 4 touchdowns, including long runs of 53 and 37. A legit 4.5 guy with a solid compact muscular build. Keeps his feet moving and his eyes up and has good change of direction to avoid defenders. A three-sport athlete that sports a 3.5 GPA. Definitely on the radar at PrepRedZone going forward.
CJ Gray-Ath-’25 Temple
The 5’9 190 Junior is a guy that has been on our radar since middle school. He had 130+ rushing yards with 2 touchdowns in a win on the road at Christian Heritage. Gray also had a 63-yard punt return for a touchdown, the 2nd Week in a row he has scored a special teams TD. A legit 4.5 40 guy with a solid build. Has the toughness to be an excellent North South runner but also possess the quickness and change of direction to be effective on the outside. The Tigers are off to their best start in nearly a decade and Gray should have plenty of opportunities this season to contribute. A player to watch this Fall and we expect his recruiting to pick up in the Spring recruiting season.
