The team had big wins against Pope John and St. Josephs and are looking to continue winning tough matchups this fall. With a very strong 2024 class, Seton Hall is returning a lot of their starters from last season. With all of the experience they gained as underclassmen, the class of ’24 is sure to make a big push for the state championship. Seton Hall Prep is one of my favorite underdogs this season, and I think teams on their schedule need to look out for them in 2023.
Liam is a QB from the 2024 class that I believe needs more collegiate attention. Liam put up some big numbers in 2022 as a thrower and as a runner. Passing for 1812 yards and 18 touchdowns, Liam also was able to hurt teams on the ground as he returns as the leading rusher for his team.
Liam has shown how valuable he is as the starting QB for his program. As mentioned in a Division Returners article, Liam has some of the best throwing accuracy in the state. His timing with his receivers and ability to throw it into tight windows has exceeded most QBs abilities. And with the return of some of his favorite targets, Liam is sure to continue his dominance in 2023. So far Liam has received an offer from LIU, but I am sure more are to come this fall.
Luigi Pantano
Luigi Pantano
Luigi Pantano is looking to step up into a big role within this offense in 2023. As the lead runner, Luigi is a small, shifty back that earns every single yard he gains. A player that isn’t going to go to the ground without a fight, Luigi is a reliable runner that is going to power through would-be tacklers. With great vision and and the ability to accelerate very quickly, Luigi is able to hit the hole, turn up field, and leave the linebackers in the rearview. With 405 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in 2022, Seton Hall will be feeding Luigi the rock in 2023.

Julius Vicari Julius Vicari 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Seton Hall | 2024 NJ
If you’re looking for a player with arguably the quickest feet in the state, look no further. I was really impressed with what Julius Vicari Julius Vicari 5’11” | 180 lbs | WR Seton Hall | 2024 NJ was able to display in 2022. A player that is extremely quick off the line, his footwork ties defender’s legs up as he continues to dart on by. His feet are just straight up faster than anyone he lines up against. He can stop on a dime, get his hips around, and catch the ball on a hook before the corner realizes what happened. As you can tell, I believe Julius is one of the most underappreciated receivers in the state. With 426 yards and 4 touchdowns last fall, Julius is a true downfield threat that can compete for the ball in traffic each and every down.
Ohio State found themselves a stud defensive back in Jaylen McClain Jaylen McClain 6’0″ | 175 lbs | DB Seton Hall | 2024 State NJ . Playing from the safety position, Jaylen is detrimental to an offense’s game plan as he is able to roam the entire field. With 83 tackles, a sack and an interception in 2022, Jaylen made a name for himself as a hard nosed tackler, closing in on runners extremely quickly and making them regret running his direction. With quick play recognition and fast feet to go with it, Jaylen can change directions seamlessly and stay hip to hip with any receiver in his coverage. Jaylen is sure to do great things at the next level, but he has one more year with Seton Hall to really prove he is one of the best in the state.

Christian Black Christian Black 6’2″ | 210 lbs | LB Seton Hall Prep | 2024 NJ is a big sized, explosive linebacker that can play inside and out. From the middle backer position, Christian shoots the gap and flies into the backfield to put a hit on the runner. Lining up on the outside, he is explosive off of the edge and rushes the pass aggressively, determined to get the QB to the ground. There is really no downside in Christian’s game. As he accumulated 72 total tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 FF in 2022, Christian is impactful wherever he’s lined up on the field. As a recent commit to Fordham, Christian has one more year to help get his team to the state championship.
