Gonzaga Defeats Archbishop Carroll

Conrath threw for more than 300 yards with 4 total touchdowns and 22 completions on the day, and one of his touchdowns was a QB sneak up the middle on the 1 yard line. It's clear that Conrath dedicated himself to his teammates during the offseason, because the chemistry amongst the Purple Eagles on both sides of the ball looks better than ever. In 2023, the WCAC is as competitive as it has ever been, which means that I can confidently call it the most dominant conference in all of high school football this year. I can also confidently say that, with [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath'] under center, the Gonzaga Purple Eagles have a legitimate shot at the conference title this season. Taking 15 carries, Hobson took control of the backfield for the Purple Eagles, and he earned more than 65 yards rushing along the way. Cody Hobson is definitely one of the key players for this Gonzaga team, and I also think that he has what it takes to clear the 1,000 yard mark this season. Wise hauled-in 2 touchdowns in the second quarter alone, and he added 74 yards receiving on only 2 catches. The QB-WR tandem of [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath']-Darius Wise is up there with the very best duos in all of the WCAC, and I believe that we will continue to see nothing but fireworks between them as the season moves forward. Now, it must be pointed out that this was no ordinary touchdown catch, but it was truly one of the best catches that we will see all year in high school football. This 35 yard TD reception will be the first of many for Samuel Terry Jr this season, and he's certainly climbing the ranks for overall pass catchers in the 2025 class. If you're a wide receivers scout anywhere, then you must have Samuel Terry Jr's name on your watchlists! With that being said, Clark put forth an incredible effort in this game, and he scored on a 5 yard rushing TD out of the Wildcat formation to seal the game for the Purple Eagles. Clark looked very confident for a Freshman in at QB, and I was very impressed with his overall performance. I believe that Gonzaga Head Coach Randy Trivers will take a ton of positives away from this first victory, and there's no way that a TD for class of 2027 QB Jack Clark is not one of them.
