The Millard North Mustangs kicked off their season by hosting the Papillion-La Vista Monarchs in a rematch of last year’s OT thriller. Both teams featured a ton great prospects, including Pitt commit Eric Ingwerson Eric Ingwerson 6'7" | 245 lbs | TE Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE , Nebraska commit Caden VerMaas Caden VerMaas 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE , Millard North’s Pierce Mooberry Pierce Mooberry 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE , PLV’s Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE , and several more. The game started off with both teams looking to find their footing offensively. The Monarchs found pay dirt first with a TD run by Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE . The Mustangs answered with a TD run of their own, with junior Desmond Dhaenans finding the end zone. The second half was all Monarchs as they outscored Millard North 22-3. Papillion-La Vista ended with the win and will look forward to their cross-town rival, Papillion-La Vista South, who is 2-0. Millard North will be away at Creighton Prep as they will also be looking for their first win of the season.
Player of the Game:
Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE | 2024 | RB/LB | Papillion-La Vista | 5’11” 185 lbs
The big producer of the night. It was the Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE show as he scored 3 of the Monarch’s four touchdowns. Prestito ended the game with 19 carries for 134 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also found Pitt-bound TE Eric Ingwerson Eric Ingwerson 6'7" | 245 lbs | TE Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE for an 11-yard touchdown pass. My biggest takeaway from Payton’s game was how powerful of a runner he is. Prestito runs with excellent balance and possesses a ton of lower body strength to help him power through tackle attempts. He also has elite vision and can quickly find open running lanes. Payton isn’t just a power runner as he also displays great acceleration when breaking away and solid top-end speed. Payton also played a big role on defense, holding down one of the inside LB spots. He does a great job analyzing offenses pre-snap and breaks on the ball very well. Payton currently holds an offer from Northwestern College, but if he continues playing like this, he should have more suitors popping up soon.
Standout Players
Pierce Mooberry Pierce Mooberry 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE | 2025 | ATH | Millard North | 6’4″ 200 lbs
The Unicorn of the 2025 class. Pierce Mooberry Pierce Mooberry 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE ‘s versatility and athleticism continue to set him apart as one of the top prospects in the state. After playing on the DL and at linebacker in past seasons, Pierce trotted out as the Mustang’s starting safety. He showed top-tier range both when moving sideline-to-sideline and when playing downhill. Pierce ended the game with 15 total tackles and displayed lots of physicality when making his stops. We didn’t get to see Pierce a ton offensively, but he did have some solid blocks as a tight end. Pierce currently holds an offer from Iowa State and will likely pick up several more P5 offers before the season’s end.
Caden Busch Caden Busch 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE | 2024 | ATH | Papillion-La Vista | 6’0″ 200 lbs
Opening up the way for his backfield-mate’s big day was senior fullback Caden Busch Caden Busch 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE . Caden is a road-grader of a fullback with a strong, compact 6’0″ 200-pound frame. He does a great job exploding through his hips and making powerful contact with his opponent. Caden made sure to get in on some of the scoring as well with an impressive 42-yard catch-and-run touchdown reception, ending the game with 65 total receiving yards (team leader). Knowing Caden can do damage as a runner, blocker, and receiver, it’ll be interesting to see the many ways he’ll be used on this Monarch’s offense.
Henry Rehberg Henry Rehberg 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Millard North | 2025 State NE | 2025 | DL | Millard North | 6’3″ 240 lbs
A 2025 defensive lineman to keep an eye on! The thing that stood out to me the most about Henry’s game was the different ways he lined up, showing off a little bit of his versatility on the defensive line. He has shown the ability to play anywhere from a 0-7 technique and even had several snaps as a stand-up edge rusher. Henry’s hand use and quick get-off helped him disengage from blockers quickly and allowed him to be a constant presence in the Monarch backfield. Rehberg ended the night with 6.5 tackles, two sacks, and a QB pressure. He has great length and moves very well for his size, showing solid lateral quickness when chasing down backs.
Logan Holtmeyer Logan Holtmeyer 6'0" | 250 lbs | DL Papillion-La Vista | 2026 State NE | 2026 | DL | Papillion-La Vista | 6’0″ 250 lbs
This is a public service announcement to get on the Holtmeyer Hype train ASAP! The Monarch’s defensive lineman has been a player we’ve been keeping an eye on since his freshman season. Logan ended the game with five tackles and a TFL but showed several flashes of the player he could develop into. His biggest strength is… his strength. Logan is a super strong player, and when combined with his natural leverage, he’s able to overpower blockers and move them off their spot to make a play. Looking forward to seeing more from the up-and-coming sophomore.
