Dontae Carter
Even after committing to Vanderbilt, Dontae Carter still wants to prove that he’s the best all around athlete in the 2024 class. Carter can play DB, WR, QB and I’m 100% if they put him at RB he’d play that too. Carter finished off week 1 with 2 ints and was in on several tackles. The record for ints in a game is 4 but with the ability that Carter has to always seem to just find the ball I’m sure he can tie that or even break it before the season ends. Carter stated this win was a true statement game for Steele headed in his final year.
He goes by RouteKingCoop and that’s exactly what he did in week 1 vs Brennan while finding the endzone on 3 different occasions. Running routes is his speciality but his for sure hands make him an even greater threat in that Steele offense. Steele offense is loaded with a ton of weapons but after a strong week 1 it looks like Cooper is making a claim to be WR1 and Mr Reliable for his QB Chad Warner. I caught up with Cooper after the game and he stated the point of emphasis this week was to play with intensity and effort the whole game knowing that Steele beat Brennan last season in a close game and they couldn’t let up.
Highlights
Brandon Castillo
Brandon Castillo
Brandon Castillo is a 2 way player who gets the job done no matter where he is on the field. After putting together a 3 touchdown week in week 1 Castillo stepped on the field with something to prove. Brandon is coming off a season ending injury that sidelined him in his junior season so he knows the importance of making every rep count. His 3 touchdowns came from 2 receptions and a pick 6. As he heads into week 2 vs Southwest next week look to see Castillo keep his momentum going as College Coaches are already asking questions.
Going into year 3 and needing to come out making a statement Jaden Perez Jaden Perez 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR San Antonio Brandeis | 2025 State TX did just that. Perez already holds several P5 offers but he hasn’t let that slow him down as he racked up 106 yards on 5 catches and 1 touchdown in his week 1 debut. Perez states this win was huge for them as it continues to build momentum leading into week 2 and helps keep them motivate moving forward.
All you need is 1 coach to believe in what you can do and give you an opportunity and Philyaw made sure he left his mark when he got his. After completing 20 of his 30 passes for 371 yards and 5 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown Lincoln proved that all is takes is one. I’m excited to watch Lincoln this season as he continues to connect with WR Jaden Perez Jaden Perez 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR San Antonio Brandeis | 2025 State TX in that high flying offense. If he continues to put games together like he did this week I don’t expect him to be uncommmited for too much longer.
