Elkhorn North’s first season was during the 2020 season. In their first season, they ended up going 1-8 their only victory was against Mount Michael Benedictine. Their second season ended up with similar results going 1-8 as well. The last season was their third season and was completely different. Elkhorn North was able to turn it around finishing the 2022 season with a record of 7-4 and their first playoff birth. The Wolves are gaining momentum and I think they are going to be just one of many competitive teams in Class B.
Wolves 2023-2024 Schedule
@ Beatrice
VS Lincoln Northwest
@ Crete
VS Grand Island Northwest
@ Omaha Westview
VS Elkhorn
VS Mount Micheal St. Benedictine
@ Bennington
VS Blair
This schedule is tough but similar to the Wolves’ past few years. They have another opportunity to make it out to the playoffs and even many chances to make it to Lincoln. If they are able to keep snowballing they really have a chance. They have the talent to do so as well, last season the Wolves had 1,798 passing yards 22 passing touchdowns, 2,075 rushing yards, and 26 touchdowns. On defense, the Wolves averaged 49 tackles per game and had 54 tackles for loss. They had 9 sacks totaling in a total of 70 yards lost. They also had 13 interceptions and 15 fumble recoveries and 3 blocked punts.
4 Players To Look Out For
Jett Tingelhoff Jett Tingelhoff 5'7" | 140 lbs | ATH Elkhorn North | 2025 State NE RB, FS
Jett is an elite ball player. I saw his running back stats and saw he has a potential great RB. Then I saw his defensive clips and stats and wow. His play on the ball is elite he is like a heat-seeking missile to the ball. QBs will fear him in 2023. Last season on offense Jett had 45 carries for 228 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 24 receptions for 346 yards and another 3 touchdowns. On defense, he had 53 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and 3 fumble recoveries.
Tommy Meckna WR, OLB
Tommy is a solid player on both sides of the ball. He could have a bigger role on offense this season. He has the ability to step up and dominate. Last season he had 201 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns on only 11 receptions. Tommy has huge acceleration being able to chase down receivers and rush to the ball. He had 29 total tackles and 3 interceptions along with 5 pass deflections. It is going to be exciting to see where Tommy will fit in the 2023 season.
Chris Thiessen Chris Thiessen 6'0" | 185 lbs | LB Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE MLB, RB
Thiessen is a leader on the field. He lead the Wolves in tackles last season. With a total of 78 tackles averaging about 7 tackles a game. He also had an interception, a fumble recovery, and two caused fumbles. Chris is another ball-hawking addition to this defense. Chris will be one to look out for in the backfield of any offense the Wolves go up against.
Sam Thomas Sam Thomas 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE is another monster on the Wolves. Sam had a ton of success last season. 13 tackles for loss 32 total tackles, 2 sacks, 4 pass deflections, and 2 caused fumbles. One of the most all-around defensive players. His elite play has already led to his commitment to the University of Northern Iowa.
Brock Marler Brock Marler 6'1" | 255 lbs | OL Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE DL, C
Brock will be another defensive lineman that will step up this season. Last season he was already a problem for offensive lines across the state. This season he’ll be even better. He had 23 total tackles 7 of which were TFLs he also had one sack. His skill at putting pressure on the O line makes him another weapon in the Wolves’ defense. Along with his D line work, he also is great on the O line.
