Seven prospects chose to get their recruiting decisions out of the way to focus on their senior seasons.
And another high-profile rising junior became just the second member of the state’s 2025 class to declare a commitment.
Kyle Williams Kyle Williams 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Northshore | 2024 State LA | 6-0, 175 DB | Northshore (2024)
Former LSU defensive back Chevis Jackson, the co-defensive coordinator at Marshall, helped the Thundering Herd land their second Louisiana commitment in just over a month when the Panthers’ standout announced his pledge Aug. 1. Williams was a top-10 prospect in the Prep Redzone Louisiana rankings early in the emergence and development of the class and before his injury battles and could represent an SEC-potential recruiting win for Jackson and company.
Kyree Langley Kyree Langley 5'11" | 185 lbs | DB Scotlandville | 2024 State LA | 5-11, 185 DB/ATH | Scotlandville (2024)
and Payton McDonald Jr. | 6-5, 260 OL | Archbishop Rummel (2024)
The Delta Devils, in efforts led by recruiting coordinator Wyatt Anderson, landed a pair of Louisiana commitments in back-to-back days with the speedy Scotlandville defensive back and big Rummel offensive lineman, both of whom have experience on both sides of the ball and whom the SWAC program hopes to prove strongly evaluated steals of under-the-radar prospects.
John David LaFleur John David LaFleur 6'6" | 240 lbs | TE Sulphur | 2025 State LA | 6-6, 240 TE | Sulphur (2025)
The son of former LSU and Dallas Cowboys tight end David LaFleur became just the second prospect in Louisiana’s 2025 class to announce a commitment, joining fellow legacy Brett Bordelon Brett Bordelon 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Isidore Newman | 2025 State LA in a pledge to the Tigers. The younger LaFleur, already starting to look the next-level part, joins the SEC program’s strong recruiting run at what had previously been an under-used and under-stocked position on the roster.
D’Khai Joseph D’Khai Joseph 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR East St. John | 2024 State LA | 5-10, 170 WR | East St. John (2024)
The Lions landed a promising in-state prospect late Wednesday with the East St. John standout’s announcement. Joseph has been a productive multisport star for his Wildcats, including a nearly 1,300-yard and 20-touchdown junior campaign, and enters his senior season off a strong offseason of cutting up defenders with his route-running on the 7-on-7 and camp circuits.
Kriston Bell Kriston Bell 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Edna Karr | 2024 State LA | 6-3, 300 OL | Edna Karr (2024)
The Cougars’ big left tackle had piqued some interest from other programs around the state and region, but nearby Alabama State had been the most heavy and steady in their pursuit and landed Bell’s commitment Thursday.
Mitch Hodnett Mitch Hodnett 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Sterlington | 2024 State LA | 6-5, 280 OL | Sterlington (2024)
The Horned Frogs continued their strong recruiting pipeline in neighboring Louisiana on Thursday with the addition of the big offensive lineman a few hours east on I-20, just north of Monroe. Hodnett opted for this past season’s College Football Playoff runners-up over a slew of options that also included Houston and Oklahoma State among the finalists.
Elijah Garrick Elijah Garrick 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Lake Charles College Prep | 2024 State LA | 6-2, 175 WR | Lake Charles College Prep (2024)
For the second time in eight days, a standout rising senior for the Blazers announced his college plans. Garrick has been the program’s highest ranking prospect in this year’s class — coming in at No. 50 in the latest update — and provides the Tigers a big, athletic pass-catcher with a wide catch radius.
