For the 2023 season, the Dragons are looking to improve on a 7-5 record from a season ago. We are going to take a look at Tommy Cody’s DeWitt Dragons for this upcoming season.
The offensive side of the ball is what we will focus on first. Carson Mitchell and Korri Graham Korri Graham 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB DeWitt | 2026 State AR will each vie to earn snaps at the quarterback position this season. Both have strong arms and can fit the ball into some tight windows. Graham is a quarterback that uses his mobility well. He has the speed to do damage when he escapes the pocket. Whoever earns snaps this season will be ready to light up Friday nights this fall.
DeWitt’s rushing attack has plenty of talented prospects to watch out for this season. Owen St. John will earn plenty of carries this season. St. John found the endzone 12 times last season. He is a patient running back that does a good job of allowing the lane to develop before exploding through the hole. Meanwhile, Landon Simpson is a running back that gets into the secondary quickly. Simpson is an explosive running back that will cause plenty of problems for opposing defenses this season.
The wide receiver position has several talented positions to keep an eye on this season. DeWitt will lean on Griffin Whitmore and Hayde McCarley this season. Whitmore has great speed and will not have a problem stretching the field vertically for the Dragons. Look for Greyson Riggins Greyson Riggins 6'3" | 190 lbs | ATH DeWitt | 2024 State AR and Braylon Brown Braylon Brown 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR DeWitt | 2024 State AR to be an effective one-two punch for the Dragons. The passing game has the chance to surprise people this season.
Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball for the Dragons. Jamal Turner, Dalton Glidewell, Gage Lay, Carson Riggins Carson Riggins 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Dewitt | 2026 State AR , and Jud Qualls are talented defensive linemen to watch out for this season. Greyson Riggins Greyson Riggins 6'3" | 190 lbs | ATH DeWitt | 2024 State AR and Landon Simpson make for a talented linebacker combination that swarms to the ball carrier. Griffin Whitmore will see some playing time in the secondary, as the defense looks to incorporate his speed in the secondary. The defense has the potential to be a unit that will open plenty of eyes this season.
