This article will briefly cover a player-versus-player match in each game. These players have the talent and potential to break out this year.
Norris vs Blair
https://twitter.com/baessler_ethanrnClass B’s gold medalist in the 100m and 200m races in 2023, Baessler has game changing type of speed. On the offensive side, he provides assistance in the run game with sweep plays, but the Bears just try to get the ball in his hands and allow him to go to work. On the defensive side, his speed keeps him in plays. Baessler can limit opponents to throwing to one side of the field with his ability to limit any throwing lanes. Gates’s length against Baessler’s speed will make for a battle to watch.
Highlights
Elkhorn North vs Beatrice
https://twitter.com/ChaseLoftin8rnThe next big Tight End in Nebraska, with multiple Division I schools interested, Loftin will have a target on his back both by his quarterback and the defense. His big frame and athleticism makes him a nightmare matchup for defenses. After a solid 2022-23 season with over 500 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns, Loftin will be targeted heavily and will no doubt build on those numbers.
Highlights
https://twitter.com/crew_meints11rnMeint is big defensive back with solid ball instincts. On the offensive side he plays quarterback, which helps him identify plays quickly and break quickly on routes. Meints has solid size and can play physical making the matchup with Loftin a must see. A dual threat quaterback, you could see Meints breakout if he can do damage to the Orangemen’s defense and make things difficult for Loftin on the defensive side.

Omaha Westview vs Crete
https://twitter.com/JacksonPost07rnA three-sport athlete, Post will be one of the first highly sought after prospects in the early years of Westview High School. His physical attributes are solid, and he is still growing. He can fill holes or chase down a running back. Play in coverage while taking on blockers to make tackles. He led the team in tackles his first year and is example type leader for the Wolverines. Look for scouts to really start focusing on Post.

A multi-sport athlete himself, Linares is a scrappy competitor who uses his athleticism to throw his body around. Linares will get his opportunity this year with a strong senior class gone from 2022-23 season. The Cardinals use Linares at both Strong Safety and Linebacker, and he will get a good load of carries at running back. His wrestling background helps his physicality as he likes to mix it up. It will be interesting to see how the Wolverines offense will handle Linares’s physical play, but also a dynamic scene when Post and Linares faceoff in a run lane.
Lincoln Pius X vs Lincoln NorthWest

A young man with all the physical traits to be a next level quarterback, Volkmer will take the helm for the Thunderbolts this year. Standing at 6’5″ and weighing 220lbs, his size allows him to see throwing lanes clearly and difficult quarterback to bring down in the backfield. Volkmer has the arm talent to make any throw but will need to continue to improve his understanding of the offense and his accuracy. His recruiting interest will grow as the year progresses with his measurables and play.

The Falcons, who also are entering their 2nd year as a school, had a shortened season so we only got a sample of their talent. Aldridge was someone who popped for them. He averaged over 37 yards a catch with his limited opportunities, showing a speed and elusiveness that could give Class B defenses some problems. With good hands and speed at the defensive back position, we should see a chess match between Aldridge and Volkmer that may determine the game. Aldridge is a breakout candidate for sure and will open some eyes.
