Coach of the week:
Coach Brett Myers of Twin Valley. Coach Myers has done a great job turning around Twin Valley and last night demonstrated that Twin Valley is here to stay. Twin Valley took a close game against Schuylkill Valley and beat them 44-13. They ran for 479 yards and had a total of 619 yards. Twins Valley is huge upfront and they play a physical brand of Football. Coach Myers team should have a good chance at winning Section 3 of the Lancaster-Lebanon and a good chance at making a playoff run.
Team of the week:
Manheim Township. Township beat Cumberland Valley 35-6 on Friday night. Taking it to Cumberland Valley and blowing out the Mid-Penn Conference team is super impressive. Township brings back a ton of players this year off last year’s team and last night they showed everyone that they are the team to beat. Township should have a good chance at winning Section 1 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League and making a District Title run this week.
Play of the week:
On Friday night I watched Octorara run the Midline Run play. It is a great offensive to run. The quarterback must read the frontside defensive tackle. If the tackle goes upfield you give it to the fullback. If the quarterback reads the defensive lineman reaching towards the full-back he pulls it from his stomach and runs with the ball.
Prospects of the week:
Evan Johnson Evan Johnson 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Pine-Richland | 2024 State PA Twin Valley. Johnson a dynamic running back for Twin Valley put on a show Friday Night running behind the Twin Valley Offensive line. He ran for 278 yards on 14 carries last night. I expect it will only continue going forward. I am excited to see how he plays the rest of the year.
Tyler Shuey Tyler Shuey QB Hamburg Area | 2025 State PA
Tyler Shuey Tyler Shuey QB Hamburg Area | 2025 State PA
Tyler Shuey Tyler Shuey QB Hamburg Area | 2025 State PA Hamburg. Shuey was making his 1st career start Friday Night. Playing at quarterback Shuey threw for 356 yards The second-best night in program history. A super impressive game for the Junior making his 1st start. Should be fun to see how Shuey progresses this year.
Ty Werley Ty Werley WR PA
Ty Werley Ty Werley WR PA
Ty Werley Ty Werley WR PA Hamburg. Werley plays wide receiver and he was the main target for Shuey last night. Werley set a program record for 259 yards receiving in the game. The 2nd most in Berks History. Werley has great size standing 6’1″ inches tall. Whoever plays Hamburg next two years will have to deal with this lethal QB/WR combination.
Collin Niedrowski Collin Niedrowski 6'0" | 175 lbs | LB Wyomissing Area | 2024 State PA Wyomissing. Niedrowski is the next good fullback for Wyomissing. He rushed for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns last night. Wyomissing has tons of capable running backs and Niedrowski is one of them. I expect him to have a big year for Wyomissing. I would expect Niedrowski to have a good chance at playing College Football in the future.
Cameron Margeson Cameron Margeson WR Hempfield | 2025 State PA
Cameron Margeson Cameron Margeson WR Hempfield | 2025 State PA
Cameron Margeson Cameron Margeson WR Hempfield | 2025 State PA Hempfield. Margeson plays wide receiver for Hempfield. Friday night in his 1st start for Hempfield he had a great game. He caught 9 passes for 159 yards. Including one for 66 yards. Margeson plays slot receiver for Hempfield and he showed a good ability to catch the ball in traffic and make people miss. It will be fun to watch him play the rest of the season.
Nobody asked me, but … Steelton-Highspire’s win over Imani Christian on Saturday was super impressive. They had a big lead and let them back into the game, but they never panicked and came back to get the win.
Nobody asked me, but … Harrisburg’s win over York High showed how talented they are as a team. Harrisburg has a staple of running backs, Elias Coke Elias Coke 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Harrisburg | 2026 State PA at wide receiver, Shawn Lee at quarterback, and 2 Division One offensive tackles in Sir-Kayne Venables and Kevin Brown. They have it all to make another State Championship game run.
Nobody asked me, but … Conestoga Valley put on a show Friday night beating Penn Manor 35-0. A super impressive effort by them. I expect Conestoga Valley to have a successful year.
Nobody asked me, but … Hempfield escaped with a crazy 16-14 win over Dallastown after trailing by two touchdowns most of the night. Coach Eager I know is happy he escaped with the win but he wants his team to play better going forward.
Nobody asked me, but … The Rose Bowl Football Showcase at York Suburban was a great event. To play 5 games over 2 days with some of the best teams in the State is super impressive. Kudos to York Suburban. I enjoyed attending the event and hope it continues next season.
