Outstanding played game by both teams with 0 penalties and turnovers during the 2Q varsity session. Here is a list of the standouts on the offensive side of the ball.
Trion Bulldogs
Toby Maddux ’24 RB :
The 5’10 187 RB enters the ’23 season surrounded by high expectations. One of the top returning Seniors in NWGA in total yards in the 2022 season. He didn’t disappoint Friday night. He had unofficially 121 rushing yards on 14 carries with 2 rushing TDs and hauled in 2 passes for 37 yards. Tough kid that is hard to tackle at the line of scrimmage and uses his leg strength to generate yards after contact. Hard worker in the weight room, 2x state wrestling champ, one to keep on your radar.
Kade Smith ’25 QB:
The 5’10 180 Junior is starting his 3rd season as QB1 for the Bulldogs. Had good night going 10 of 16 for 126 yards with 0 interceptions. Has a good pocket presence and good at moving around to avoid pressure. Strong with a 315-bench press. Knows the game.
Garrett Mahan ’24 WR:
The 6’4 165 Senior WR. Tall, lanky guy with long arms that makes an excellent possession receiver. Good at using his height to high point the ball and make catches over shorter DBs. Led the Bulldogs in receiving yards Friday with 3 catches for 57 yards including a 36 yard catch late in the 2nd quarter that set up the game winning FG for the varsity portion of the scrimmage. Never comes off the field. Had 2 TT with a pass break up, intercepted 3 passes last season as a Junior.
Zach Camp ’25 RB:
Built like a fire hydrant. Listed at 5’5 160 but looks like he is 190 in pads. Real quick feet with good change of direction and explosiveness in the open field. Not scared to run the ball North South. Did a good job picking up pass protection and going toe to toe with bigger defensive lineman. You tell from the stands that his not afraid to mix it up. Had a 19-yard TD run early in the game to give the Bulldogs the lead.
Adairsville Tigers
Ethan Blome Ethan Blome 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Adairsville | 2024 State GA ’24 RB:
The 5’9 185 Senior is a guy we saw a lot of this Summer as he made the rounds on the Camp Circuit. Ran one of the fastest 40 times at the Shorter Camp, picking up a post camp offer. The returning 6AAA rushing leader looked in mid-season form on Friday accounting for 96 yards on 9 touches with a 31-yard TD reception during the 2Q’s of varsity play. Blome had over 1800 total yards last season for the Region winning Tigers and looks primed for a huge Senior season. Good hands and speed and I could see him being an excellent slot receiver at the next level.
’22 Season Highlights 1800 yards Total offense.
Jonathan Gough Jonathan Gough 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Adairsville | 2024 GA ’24 QB:
Big pocket presence at 6’3 205. Went 7 for 14, unofficially, with 119 yards and 2 TDs including a 61-yard strike late in the 2nd quarter. 1st Team All Region 6AAA QB in ’22 with a Region Title under his belt. Has a 3.88 GPA and gets it done in the weight room as well, power cleans 285. Holds an offer from Rinehardt.
Jamarian Pullum Jamarian Pullum 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Adairsville | 2025 GA ’25 WR:
Another guy we are familiar with from the Summer camp circuit. He earned a couple of post camp offers this summer from Reinhardt and Cumberland. Measures in at 6’1 190 looks a lot taller with long arms and a thin athletic build. Real good body control and showed his speed Friday taking a pitch end around for a 40 yard TD. Showed his speed on the defensive side of the ball running down #25 for Trion from behind at the goal line. Great prospect that will only see his stock climb during his Junior campaign.
Jaydon Hovarth ’24 WR:
I always like the beginning of the season because new names emerge. The 5’11 150 Senior WR is active on both sides of the ball. Not the biggest guy on the field but you can tell he loves to play the game. Doesn’t mind blocking for the run game. He had a 61-yard TD reception midway through the 2nd quarter that allowed the Tigers to tie the game. High character student athlete with a 4.0 GPA.
