Bodie Derrer Bodie Derrer 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Hamilton Heights | 2024 State IN – Hamilton Heights – QB – 6’3″ 200lbs
Derrer is one of the more efficient QBs in the state and looks better every time he steps on the field. He’s got an elite next-level frame and processes the game well. I’ve had the opportunity to see him work in person and he’s just as impressive and consistent. He’s got nice touch to his deep ball and then can throw a rope over the middle of the field. He’s smooth in almost everything he does and should have another huge year. Last year, he threw for 24 TDs to only 3 INTs. He doesn’t put the ball in harm’s way, goes through his progressions, and makes the throw that’s needed to be made. I’m a big fan of him and what he can do at the next level. He’s had a ton of interest but hasn’t found his home yet. It won’t take long during the 2023 season in my opinion for him to get the right school after him.

Teagan Bennett Teagan Bennett 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Lawrenceburg | 2024 State IN – Lawrenceburg – RB – 5’9″ 185lbs
Bennett is one of the most dynamic and consistent players in the entire state of Indiana. His production has been off the charts and he’s had 363 carries in his high school career and averages 6.7 ypc. Him touching the ball guarantees over half the yardage needed for a first down. Football is pretty simple and people overthink it. The running game is simple Geometry. But, football as a whole is about MTBSTD. Move The Ball. Score TouchDowns. Bennett does that and then some. There’s a chance he’ll bust a 90-yard TD at any second. That’s not hyperbole either, as he’s done it. He’s able to come out of the backfield and catch the ball as well. He’s got great vision and does a good job pressing the line and cutting off his reads. For the past 2 seasons, Lawrenceburg has been blessed to have Bennett put up 2300 rushing yards and 35 TDs. He should easily add another big chunk of numbers to that this season and hopefully, he gets the chance to play for a school that values the run as much as he produces.

Terrell Caldwell Terrell Caldwell 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Hobart | 2024 State IN – Hobart – WR – 5’10” 165lbs
Caldwell still being on the board is straight-up baffling to me. Maybe he’s just being patient with the process, but there’s more talent in this young man than some schools have on their entire roster. He’s transferring from New Calumet Tech to Hobart this year just for a chance to play in a better program. Apparently putting up 1250 receiving yards and 17 TDs up as a junior wasn’t good enough for him to get schools lining up. I know immediately schools are afraid because he’s not 6’+, but at this point, you can’t fix stupid. If a guy is the fastest player on the field, has elite ball skills, change of direction, gets open all the time, and puts up huge numbers, he’s probably a good target. In this day in age, 5’10” WRs are so common, even at the NFL level, that there’s no excuse for schools to be using that as an excuse. Put Caldwell in the slot and let him catch 80 balls a year. It doesn’t have to be hard. He plays with that chip on his shoulder and that is one of many reasons I’ll continue to pound the table for him.

Sam Feeney Sam Feeney 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Bishop Chatard | 2024 State IN – Bishop Chatard – LB – 6’2″ 205lbs
Feeney has been one of the better risers in terms of attention over the past few months or so, but it’s because of his potential and athletic ability that have schools so intrigued and excited. He stands at 6’2″ but is so explosive and aggressive off the line that he gives you great Edge rusher vibes. But then, he’s so athletic and twitchy he can cover every blade of grass. On top of all that, he’s so smart on the field he seems to be 1 step ahead of the offense from time to time. As he learns and develops in all phases, mentally and physically, he’s someone who could reach such a level that he’s dominating on Saturdays. With that frame, he’s run 2 lasered 40s at IU and Miami. 4.51 at each and then can jump out of a gym. Whether he ends up on the ball, off the ball, or a hybrid is fully up to him and where he decides to go. 1 thing is for certain, Feeney is a ton of fun to watch and shouldn’t be available much longer.

Jayden Hazelwood Jayden Hazelwood 6'3" | 315 lbs | OL Evansville North | 2024 State IN – Evansville North – OL/DL – 6’3″ 320lbs
Hazelwood is one of the better 2-way players up front. Whether you want him up front clearing the way or upfront, well clearing the way, he’s got you covered. One of my favorite “football sayings” is move or be moved. Hazelwood is a perfect example of someone who plays with this mindset. Offensively, he’s great coming downhill in the running game and outright pancaking the defender across from him. He’s able to go on the move and make things happen as a lead blocker. He’s able to set his feet in pass protection and gain depth while typically staying off his heels. However, it’s his defensive potential that is so exciting. He’s just violent and strong. He blows defenders off the ball so far sometimes it’s like he takes it personally. He’s been so disruptive that offensive lines shifted doubles towards him to slow him down. It’s worked some, but when you’re doubling a guy in HS, that’s a sign he’s a problem. His 21 TFLs and 8 sacks over the past 2 seasons back that belief up. Hazelwood’s entering his senior year knowing he’s got a target on his back and offenses are going to try stopping him. That’s a chess match I’m excited to see because my bet is on Hazelwood.
