Continue ReadingWarwick went 5-5 last year in the super competitive Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League. This season will be Bob Locker’s 23rd season as Warwick’s Head Coach. Over the last decade, he has constantly had his teams at the top of the Lancaster-Lebanon League. This year Warwick should have a bounce-back year and I expect them to have a better year than last year’s team.
Top returning players:
Highlights
Trevor Evans Trevor Evans 6'2" | 185 lbs | ATH Warwick | 2024 State PA . Evans played safety last year but is projected to play quarterback this year as well. Evans has great size standing 6’2″ inches tall and he runs well for someone his size. He is a hybrid player that you can play both as a strong safety and closer to the line of scrimmage and as a free safety, deeper in coverage. In both positions, he shows that he has good play recognition. At strong safety, he does a nice job of keeping contain and making tackles in the flat. He is also good at reading the quarterback’s eyes and making a play on the ball. At free safety, he really does a nice job of coverage and making tackles in the open field. Evans is also a playmaker on defense as he had several interceptions. Evans now shifting over to quarterback will allow him to show how talented he is at that position as well.
Highlights
Mahkel Tate Mahkel Tate 5'10" | 190 lbs | ATH Warwick | 2025 PA . Tate played linebacker for Warwick last year. He is a talented player that I expect he have a big year this year for Warwick. Below is what I said about him earlier this year:
He does a nice job at linebaker of reading and reacting to a offensive plays and filling the hole very well. He is also good at creating chaos for the offense. When he blitzes he very good at getting in the backfield to make a play. Tate is a good athlete who does a nice job tracking down ball carriers in the open field. He is also a sure tackler. Tate is a good player and should only get better going forward.
Quinn Care
Quinn Care
Quinn Care. Care played cornerback last year. Care showed good coverage skills at corner. He does a nice job of covering receivers and then turning when the ball is in the air and make a play on the ball. Care also showed that he is a good tackler, especially in the open field. Care made several pass breakups when he was matched up one-on-one with wide receivers. Going into his Junior Year I expect care to get even better.
Andrew McClune
Andrew McClune
Andrew McClune. McClune played running back last year. He is a dynamic running back who makes a ton of plays all over the field. McClune is a patient runner who waits to hit the hole. Then when he hits the hole he has the burst to run by defenders. He is also a physical runner who runs through arm tackles, McClune also showed the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield well. McClune also showed that he can block well, especially on quarterback runs leading the way. McClune is a good running back who should have an even bigger season this year and someone I expect to have a chance at playing College Football in the future.
Evan Peters
Evan Peters
Evan Peters. Peters played inside linebacker last year. He showed good skills at linebacker last year. Peters is a run stuffer who did a nice job of making tackles in the run game. Peters does a good job reading and reacting to the play and then filling the hole to make the tackle. He does a nice job of getting off blocks and then coming up to make a play. Peters is also a sound tackler who tackles well in the open field. Peters showed good skills last year at linebacker and I expect him to get better this year.
Aiden Richey
Aiden Richey
Aiden Richey. Richey played outside linebacker last year. He had limited film but showed good skills at the position in those limited reps at the position. He does a nice job of keeping contain and then reading and reacting to the play and coming upfield to make a tackle or force the play inside. Richey also showed that he was a good tackler. Richey should have a bigger impact this year.
Thomas Jeanes Thomas Jeanes 6'4" | 210 lbs | WR Warwick | 2024 State PA . Jeanes played wide receiver and tight end last year for Warwick. This year he is projected to just play wide receiver for Warwick. Jeanes has good size for either position standing 6’4″ inches tall. Jeanes caught the ball well on contested catches. He runs good routes and showed an ability to do subtle movements to manipulate defensive backs. He catches the ball well in traffic, especially with in-breaking routes. Jeanes showed good skills last year and with his move to exclusively wide receiver he should be even better this year.
Final Thoughts: Warwick should be a competitive team again this year and should have a chance to compete for a Section 2 Title in the Lancaster-Lebanon League. I like several of their talented players and I expect more to merge this year. Also, Coach Locker does a nice job developing players and the program as a hole. So, I think Warwick will have a chance to break out this year.
