The Tigers’ upperclassmen expressed their confidence and hungry in their ability to re-climb the title mountain, and the talent and experience they return should make them among the most capable contenders to do so.
Westgate garnered a stop on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s offseason tours and a series of “3-2-1” spotlights looking at three key returning standouts, two notable breakout candidates and one underclassman to know sooner than later.
3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS
De’Myrion Johnson De’Myrion Johnson 6'2" | 280 lbs | DL Westgate | 2024 State LA — 6-3, 280 DL — Westgate (2024)
Johnson has been among the area’s better-known players since an early recruiting blow-up as an underclassman and has seen his profile only continue to grow with his disruptive performance up front to help set the defensive tone for his Tigers — and with his commitment this spring to home-state LSU. He headlines a group that includes defensive linemen A’Trevion Netter A’Trevion Netter 6'3" | 295 lbs | DL Westgate | 2025 State LA (2025) and Albert Seabble (2024) and edge rushers such as Natayvien Daniels (2024), D’mariyan Jackson (2025) and Raymond Jack Raymond Jack 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Westgate | 2026 State LA (2026).
Jaboree Antoine Jaboree Antoine 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Westgate | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 180 DB/ATH — Westgate (2025)
The dynamic athlete has earned recognition as one of the top rising junior prospects in not only the state, but the country with an impressive “who’s who” list of college scholarship offers to match. Antoine is a long, quick defensive back with special ball skills who earned all-district second-team honors as a sophomore with 32 tackles, five interceptions and 11 pass break-ups, while also growing into a leadership role on offense as the team’s dual-threat playmaker at quarterback.
Tavias Gordon Tavias Gordon 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Westgate | 2025 State LA — 5-10, 185 RB — Westgate (2025)
Another member of the Tigers’ talented 2025 class had an impressive breakout sophomore campaign of his own this fall to provide Antoine a great complement in the offensive backfield. Gordon racked up big numbers on the ground with his listed 4.57-second 40-yard speed, powerful running through contact and a great feel for forcing defenders off balance and bouncing himself free the other direction. Georgia Tech and Grambling State extended his first two offers this spring.
2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Davian Jackson Davian Jackson 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Westgate | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 170 WR/ATH — Westgate (2025)
“Diamond” was another key weapon for Antoine and the offense, a versatile athlete who started to garner some recruiting traction this spring with Georgia Tech and Grambling State offers. Jackson is one of the Tigers’ bigger skill players with a tall, long frame and solid build, listed 4.47-second 40-yard speed and the power and balance to run through contract. He was equally effective on the outside as a receiver or providing a different look at running back.
Dy’traevous Lively — 5-10, 185 LB — Westgate (2025)
and Andre Williams Andre Williams 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Westgate | 2024 State LA — 6-0, 210 LB — Westgate (2024)
For the sake of the 3-2-1 format, the linebacker duo is still in the process of garnering wider spread recognition — whether that be among fans, media and potential opponents around the state or college coaches on the recruiting trail. But the that process is already clearly underway after strong 2022 performances by a pair of smart, active defensive leaders upon whom their Tigers’ coaches and teammates already know they can rely. Lively, nicknamed “Spida,” earned all-state recognition with a sophomore campaign that included 93 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, four sacks and three interceptions and earned his first offer from Grambling State at the end of the school year. And Williams racked up 83 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and five sacks as a junior and early his first offer from Lane College in mid-May.
1 UNDERCLASSMAN TO KNOW
Peyton Landry Peyton Landry 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB New Iberia | 2026 State LA — 6-1, 165 QB — Westgate (2026)
Antoine is expected to continue running the offense this fall, but the Tigers also have one of the state’s most promising young quarterbacks who has already started to look the part. Landry has good size, a solid base and active feet and consistently zips accurate throws out to his receivers whether standing tall in the pocket or on the move.
