Jennings is one of the most impactful returning two-way players in the trenches this season. He has ideal frame (6’6”/270) for his OT position with long reach and light feet. He’s a mauler at the POA that gets his hands in tight and can toss DL around. He shows fluid movement working up to the second level and looks comfortable out in space. Jennings is a high-upside OL that just picked up his first D-I offer from Valparaiso in May.
William Buck
William Buck
Buck transferred to Cathedral Catholic after playing his junior season at Sheldon in Sacramento. He’s a mauler from his OT spot with a frame (6’3”/285) and physicality that could translate well to OG at the next level. He’s violent with his hands and finishes through defenders with powerful leg drive. Buck holds untapped upside as an OG prospect- it’ll be interesting to see how CC decides to use him this season.
Ian Baker
Ian Baker
Baker’s a strong, physical LT for Westview at 6’4”/280. He moves his feet well as a run-blocker with ability to pull, reach, and pick up LBs working up to the second level. He has a strong anchor in pass pro and utilizes his length and punch effectively at the LOS. He’s a high-motor blocker that finishes downfield and through the whistle with tenacity. Baker should be able to put his name on the radar with a strong follow up to his junior season.
Ryan Mason
Ryan Mason
Mason’s a returning two-year starter at C for Helix. He’s a stout IOL at 6’1”/275 with the frame and physicality to move defenders around in the run game. He’s consistent with his pad level and can create forward momentum with churning leg drive. Mason figures to be among the best and most experienced centers in San Diego this season.
Sawyer Knox
Sawyer Knox
Knox is a lean, athletic OT with great natural length at 6’5”/230. He moves fluidly and shows good body coordination but needs to continue adding weight and strength to his leaner frame. He excels at sealing the edge on reach blocks and walling-off backside pressure as a pass blocker. Knox offers significant upside with his natural length and just picked up his first offer from Benedictine College in June.
Kai West
Kai West
West is an important piece of the trenches on both sides of the ball for Mission Bay at LT/DL. He can clean DEs out and open lanes in the run game as a man-blocker. He’s effective doubling with OGs and down-blocking over DTs. He stays in front of edge rushers with active feet in pass pro and delivers noticeable punch at the POA. West is one of the more underrated senior OL/DL in San Diego heading into this season.
