55. Damari Jefferson Damari Jefferson 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Oak Grove | 2024 State MS – Oak Grove
What does the tape say?
Slot receiver / 3rd down back projection due to lack of length and size. Extreme athleticism and twitch that without a doubt comes natural. Dangerous with ball in hands, especially in screen game. Wins with speed that is in the 4.5/40yd range. Twitchy both with and without the ball. Accelerates and changes directions crisply. Lack of size is the only thing prohibiting offers.
Position Projection: Wide Reciever
54. Landon Varnes Landon Varnes 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Brandon | 2024 State MS – Brandon
What does the tape say?
Varnes is a name well known in Mississippi High School football circles due to his long standing production at one of the top programs in the state. Frame wise, the Brandon signal caller plays taller than he is and doesn’t get hindered due to size very often on film. In the pocket Varnes looks the part. In control of the game, understands what’s happening around him. Shows ability to move the pocket or scramble with success. Footwork is impressive. Stronger than you’d think when just looking at him and proves it making throws at all three levels. Accuracy is there and proven by 65% completion rate. Still feels like he is undervalued.
Position Projection: Quarterback
53. Damion Miller Damion Miller 6'2" | 185 lbs | ATH Port Gibson | 2024 State MS – Port Gibson
What does the tape say?
Length immediately shows when looking at Miller. Long arms appear and help him produce on both sides of the ball. Quick but not necessarily speedy. Way above average route runner which makes him look a lot faster than when he is running in a straight line. Impressive hands that flash on tape several times. Athletic ability shows when he jumps. Real potential on both sides of the ball but best projects to the defensive secondary when combining size and speed. Currently committed to Southern Miss as he recruitment has blown up after his junior campaign.
Position Projection: Safety
52. Chase Pinkston Chase Pinkston 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Oak Grove | 2024 State MS – Oak Grove
What does the tape say?
Another of the many athletes currently at Oak Grove. Good size that will translate as a defensive back at the next level. Plays with his head up and good vision of the field. Steps up and tackles in the run game. Forces turnovers and disrupts. Can hang in man to man coverage when needed. Very handsy. A bit of a tweener position wise but could make out fantastic as a nickel / hybrid safety. Pinkston has an offer sheet that should grow.
Position Projection: Safety
51. Marlin Odom Marlin Odom 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR George County | 2024 State MS – George County
What does the tape say?
Speaking of places that just continually produces, George County is in the same boat. Odom is built to play wideout physically. Good size with potential to continue to fill out the frame. Twitchy off the ball and gets around corners at the snap. Plays physical for his size. Odom shows ability to go get the football and is given opportunities to do so. Runs routes well and can get better. Good speed but not a sprinter. Potential to play outside the numbers or inside. Really good football player.
Position Projection: Wide Reciever
