Continue ReadingI wrote about some of the best tackles in Missouri recently, and I still have more talented blockers falling through the cracks. I believe I am near the end of my 2024 OL evaluations and the five prospects I have written about in this article should certainly not be near the bottom of anybody’s list. Below, I breakdown the junior film of five 2024 offensive line prospects.
Giovanni Patton
Giovanni Patton
Giovanni Patton is a great sized tackle out of Independence, Missouri. Giovanni received his first offer from Southwest Baptist in April. He also recently attended a camp at Washburn University. Don’t be surprised when the talented tackle’s recruitment heats up this fall.
Giovanni’s size and quick feet show mirroring smaller speed rushers in pass protection. Next level power shows knocking linebackers out with one punch in the run game. Coaches like Giovanni’s combination of strength and athleticism that shows sustaining defenders laterally in the run game.
Austin Sliger
Austin Sliger
Austin Sliger is a versatile OL prospect out of Wentzville, Missouri. Austin has visited Washington University in St. Louis and received his first offer from Carleton College on July 1st. Expect more regional schools to give Austin official invites and offers before 2024 gets here.rn
Good balance, quick feet, and a powerful punch highlight Austin’s potential to be a solid collegiate pass blocker. Austin shows good physicality and strength driving defenders from the point of attack in the run game. Austin displays good athleticism and flexibility when redirecting at the second level to gain leverage on linebackers in the run game.
Nolan Glaus
Nolan Glaus
Nolan Glaus is a versatile, talented prospect out of St. Louis Priory High School. Nolan holds offers from Butler, Valparaiso, William Jewell, and Benedictine College in Kansas. Nolan has attended camps across the country for a couple years now, and I would not be surprised to see him receive more offers outside of the region before 2024 gets here.
Nolan shows next level strength and good flexibility driving defenders off the ball with good leverage in the run game. Good power and athleticism shows mirroring defenders at the second level as a run blocker. Good length, athleticism, power, and position flexibility give Nolan a shot to be a coveted interior line prospect before it comes time to graduate.
Stylz Blackmon
Stylz Blackmon
Stylz Blackmon is a dominant blocker for Grain Valley High School. Stylz holds eight different offers spanning from division three to the FCS, with the most recent one coming from the University of Central Missouri. Watch for Stylz to bulk up and have more offers come rushing in before his senior season ends.
Stylz’s next level power and flexibility shows exploding through defenders with good leverage as a puller in the run game. Good instincts and athleticism show mirroring defenders in space as a run blocker. Stylz’s next level strength gets displayed displacing defensive linemen at the point of attack. Good length, flexibility, and balance highlight Stylz’s natural foundation of pass protection skills.
Donn Lewis Donn Lewis 6’4″ | 290 lbs | OL Fort Zumwalt South | 2024 State MO is a surprisingly unknown OL prospect out of St. Peters, Missouri. Donn most recently attended Central Missouri’s Junior Day. Donn has been invited to Ball State and Southern Illinois, but I am surprised to not see any scholarship offers come in from schools closer to home. Expect more than one regional school to offer Donn before his senior season ends.
Donn shows a good combination of power and acceleration exploding off the ball and knocking defenders out as a puller. Coaches like seeing Donn’s next level strength and good effort drive defensive linemen several yards from the point of attack. Good patience, balance, a solid anchor, and quick feet highlight Donn’s next level pass protection potential.
