Here is a look at some of the top 2024 defensive backs in the state of Idaho:
McBride has put together an outstanding offseason where he has walked away with camp MVP awards, been noticed by some of the top programs in the state of Idaho and shown why he is currently ranked as the #2 defensive back in the state. McBride might be the best cover corner in the entire state where he uses his elite speed (11.0 100m) to make plays in a variety of different ways. He stands at about 6’1″ with long arms that allows him to press wide receivers at the line of scrimmage along with fantastic footwork he is able to mirror any release given to him. He shows elite fluidity in his hips and has the ability to get in and out of his back pedal with ease. Natural instincts allow him to read and react to what wide receivers are doing and has rarely gotten beat all summer. He posses natural pass catching hands that allows him to high point footballs and collect interceptions. Where he is most impressive is in his make up speed where he can sit as a cover two corner and make plays on verticals with pure speed. McBride might be one of the best tackling corners in the state as well where he is not shy about making contact. When it is all said and done it would be a surprise to know one if he was the top corner in the state of Idaho this season.
Groom is another stud cover corner that plays with great anticipation. He is able to really get in and out of his breaks with exceptional fluidity and has really good range. Where he really shines in his zone coverage where he can read patterns and make plays on the football. He has a unique ability to anticipate when and where footballs are going to be thrown and really makes the offense pay for their decision making. He is improved in his footwork that will allow him to be a really good press corner this season and we have heard good things about the summer that he has put together. Another very sure tackler that can really make plays in the running game and impact the offense not just in coverage. He is going be atop many a teams scouting report this season as he makes life very hard on offensive coordinators by taking away their number one option.
