Continue ReadingThe Florida State Seminoles are getting back to their winning ways on the gridiron and will push the Clemson Tigers for the ACC crown in 2023. They should stay towards the top for a while considering they are hitting the state of Georgia extremely hard on the recruiting trail.
Who from the peach-state is currently committed to the ‘Noles? Let’s take a look…
Landen Thomas Landen Thomas 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Colquitt County | 2024 State GA – TE – Colquitt County
A former Georgia commitment, Thomas was a massive pickup for the FSU Seminoles who have one of the very best prospects in Georgia on the commit list. Ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2024 class, Thomas is a 5-star recruit with plenty of size at 6-foot-4 and 235-yards. He’s a major weapon in the passing game who knows how to leap into the air and make a tough catch over a defender. He has great hands, can pick up yards after the catch, and block on the edge in the run game. Thomas caught only 31 passes last fall, but they went for 516 yards and seven touchdowns. He does so much well and he’s only scratching the surface of his potential.
BJ Gibson BJ Gibson 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Wilcox County | 2024 State GA – WR – Wilcox County
One of the top wide receivers in South Georgia, and possibly across the state in the 2024 class, Gibson is a two-sport star with excellent ball-skills, vertical speed, and playmaking ability. A big-time baseball player, Gibson is a natural athlete with good size at 6-foot-0 170-pounds who can also help make plays on special teams. Gibson creates separation with ease and is really quick in and out of his breaks. He’s a natural runner with a knack for getting behind defenses and making big plays down the field. The Wilcox County star is a true weapon whenever he’s on the field, and he’ll give the Seminoles a big-time playmaker on the outside as a receiver. He chose Florida State back on April 15th over Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, among others.
Kam Davis – RB – Dougherty
The No. 7 prospect in Georgia for the 2024 class and the No. 1 running back, Davis is a tough, powerful back with a muscular frame who can absolutely push for early playing time in Tallahassee when the time comes. A multi-sport star who also dominates on the baseball diamond, Davis had offers from just about every major program in the country, but decided to commit early on to his childhood favorite school. The Albany native is a tremendous athlete who can make plays no matter where he’s lined up. A quarterback for Doughery, Davis is always a threat to run the ball, and that’s what he’ll be doing at the next level. A touch, bowling ball of a back who can break tackle after tackle, Davis is physically impressive at 5-foot-10 200-pounds and has the film to back up his high ranking. He was extremely productive last season as a junior, especially on the ground, rushing for 1,115 yards and 13 touchdowns while playing quarterback.
Luke Kromenhoek Luke Kromenhoek 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Benedictine Military | 2024 State GA – Benedictine
One of the very best quarterbacks in Georgia, Kromenhoek continues to get better and better and has been solidly committed to Florida State since March 26th of 2022. A natural passer who consistently wins games, Kromenhoek led his Benedictine squad to the 4A state championship last season. He already looks like a D1 passer at 6-foot-4 185-pounds and can be deadly when running the football. As a passer, Kromenhoek was 171/263 with 31 touchdowns and just three INTs. He also rushed for over 450 yards and seven more touchdowns. He’s a true dual-threat quarterback, who like Gibson and Davis, is also a tremendous baseball player. A leader off the field and in the locker room, Kromenhoek appears to be the future of Florida State football. He throws well on the run, can put zip on the ball over the middle, and throws a nice deep ball as well. The Savannah native has the size, promising arm talent, and has the ability to run, making him a promising prospect and one who could get Florida State back to competing for championships.
CJ Heard CJ Heard 6'0" | 200 lbs | DB Woodward Academy | 2024 State GA – DB – Woodward Academy
A hard-hitting junior safety with size and instincts, the Atlanta native had a really impressive junior season showing impressive cover skills and the ability to come down and make a big hit on the ball-carrier against the run. A do-it-all safety who understands his role, Heard is one of the top DBs in the Atlanta area and ready to take his talents down to Tallahassee next year. He looks the part physically at 6-foot-0 200-pounds and will bring a strong, physical presence to the Seminoles secondary. A sure tackler who does a great job of wrapping up around the ball-carrier’s feet and ankles, Heard knows how to run and shows the ability to chase down backs from behind. As a junior last fall, Heard made 65 tackles on a defense loaded with D1 talent, picked off two passes, and deflected three more. The Woodward Academy committed to Florida State on July 30th of 2022 over offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Purdue, among others.
