After a busy few weeks of camp coverage I decided to get back to rankings coverage. So I went to the film room to check out some 2024 prospects, pulled five names, and got to studying.

Here are five 2024 players that are ready to have big seasons this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='250285' first='Joel' last='Thomas'] | OL/DL | Columbus | 6'4" 285 lbs

The Discoverers will be looking to bounce back in 2023, with players like [player_tooltip player_id='250285' first='Joel' last='Thomas'] leading the charge upfront. Joel will be a pivotal player on the Columbus offensive line as the starting left tackle. The first thing to pop out on Joel's tape is his physicality with his blocks. He fires off the line and can make a lot of impact with his initial jab. Thomas uses his hands very well and can work his way inside to overpower his opponent and drive them into the dirt. He has solid lateral movement and can work his way downfield to pick up blocks in the second level. Joel is primarily a tackle but has shown that he can flex over to guard if needed. Joel had a great June after receiving his first two offers from Nebraska-Kearney and Midland, more likely coming soon.

Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='250701' first='Seth' last='Erickson'] will be back as an enforcer in the middle of the York defense. Seth is a fiery linebacker who plays a hard-nosed football style that you like in your middle linebackers. He plugs his gaps very well and will lay the wood if an RB is unfortunate enough to meet him 1v1. Seth also has the sideline-to-sideline range to close on the edge and shut down outside runs. He has nice length that helps him maintain separation at the line and break away to pursue the ball carrier. Seth will also be a key part of the offense, as he'll likely be the top ball carrier. Erickson is just as tough on offense as he is on defense with his physical running style. Seth is mostly a north-south runner, but he does have a long stride that helps him gain ground quickly. He is tough to bring down on first contact with his powerful lower body that keeps pumping through tackle attempts. Seth is starting to gain some steam on the recruiting circuit with his first two offers from Hastings College and Midland. Watch out for this guy in 2023!

[player_tooltip player_id='250665' first='Talan' last='Bruha'] | ATH | Ord | 6'2" 195 lbs

It's surprising how a two-way standout like Talan is still flying under the radar. Ord's [player_tooltip player_id='250665' first='Talan' last='Bruha'] has been a varsity contributor since his sophomore season as a receiver and a versatile outside linebacker. Off the bat, Talan possesses great measurables at 6'2" and 195 lbs, with room to add to his frame. Bruha can be lined up virtually anywhere on the offense to try and exploit the most favorable mismatches. Talan can beat smaller defensive backs on the outside with his ability to win jump balls, and he has sneaky good speed and quickness to help him get open against linebackers. His soft hands make him a reliable receiver with a great burst to pick up extra yardage after the catch. Defensively, Bruha is a do-it-all linebacker who can make plays in the backfield and play off the ball. He processes the game very well and trusts his instincts to go up and make a play on the ball. Great range and closing speed. Overall, Talan ended his junior year with 23 receptions, 397 yards, five touchdowns, 42 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack, four interceptions, five fumbles recovered, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick. A hidden gem in the '24 class!

[player_tooltip player_id='516213' first='Delunn' last='Jones'] | DB/WR | Millard South | 5'11' 175 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Delunn is a player that has been a big riser in recent weeks with some big performances at 7v7 tournaments. Jones had a great junior season in which he became one of the starters for the Patriots. On his tape, Delunn shows a willingness to tackle and play downhill from the CB position. He has a quick backpedal and can flip his hips quickly to stay mirrored up with his receiver. Watching Delunn the past few weeks, it seems like his technique has improved over the offseason. He looks sharper with his footwork, eye discipline, and is generally more confident. Delunn has also broken out a bit as a receiver. He has a great connection with QB [player_tooltip player_id='476963' first='Jett' last='Thomalla'] and was looked at in short-yardage situations and crucial downs. Looking forward to seeing what senior year has in store for Delunn.

[player_tooltip player_id='675847' first='Tyler' last='Pilege'] | LB/WR | Skutt Catholic | 5'10" 175 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Skutt Catholic LB group is one that could be among the best in class B this season. One player that could emerge from that group is senior [player_tooltip player_id='675847' first='Tyler' last='Pilege'], who will take up one of the outside linebacker spots. He is a versatile defender that can drop back into coverage or fire off the edge to create pressure. Tyler displayed good fluidity and natural instincts in coverage while picking up tight ends and backs coming out of the backfield. He showed nice physicality when the ball is the air and won't hesitate to try and make a play on the ball. Tyler's ability to play off the edge was impressive to see. He showed quickness off the ball when rushing the QB while also being able to contain the outside run and the ability to disengage from blocks. Under the radar prospect that should be getting more looks!
