Region 1-2A
The University of Florida commit is a true athlete that can play any skill position on field. The 6’1 WR/DB scored TD’s in multiple ways last season, on the ground, in the air, passing, fumble returns, INT, and kick returns. It’s not an over statement that the guy can do it all. Outstanding cover corner that loves to hit. We be good addition for the Florida Gator secondary for years to come.
Region 2-2A
Nick Wofford RB (’25 Northeast-Macon)
Another easy selection as last year’s Region Player of The Year returns for his Junior season. The 5’10 195-pound RB has a great combination of power and speed. He would much rather run over you than around you and has break away sped when he gets by you. He rushed for over 1600 yards last year and we expect more of same from him in 2023. Has a 4.0 GPA and holds offers from Georgia Southern and West Virginia.
Region 3-2A
Griffis is an outstanding all-around athlete. The University of Tennessee baseball commit is a Two-time Region POY on the diamond. On the football field he was the 2022 Offensive Player of The Year in Region 3-2A as well as 1st Team All Region Punter. He passed for over 1700 yards last season with 15 TDs and only 4 interceptions in 152 attempts. Strong arm that can let it fly on the deep routes. Mobile with the strength to throw the out routes. We look for Appling to make another deep playoff run this Fall.
Region 4-2A
Anthony “Tre Tre” Jeffery RB (’25 Thomson)
The rising Junior RB rushed for 1015 yards last season and 18 touchdowns as RB2. He will get the chance this year to be “The Man” for the defending State Champion Bulldogs. The 5’8 190-pound RB has excellent speed to get to and around the corner. Good hands out of the backfield and breakaway speed once he gets pass the 2nd level. He already holds an offer from Arkansas and as he takes over the RB1 spot the next 2 years I predict he will be a highly sought after recruit, especially with a 3.8 GPA.
The 6’1 197 athlete can do it all for the Eagles. Last season for Columbia he averaged over 20 yards per carry as a RB (15 carries for 300 yards), led the team in receptions and receiving with 27 catches for 447 yards. Played DB on the other side of the ball where he had 52 TT with an interception and 2 FF. Two sport athlete that excels on the basketball court. He recently committed to Arkansas and holds a ton of offers including UGA, Ga Tech and Florida.
Region 6-2A
Kam Fountain DL (’24 Booker T. Washington)
It’s not often a defensive lineman wins the Player of the Year award in a Region, but this could be the one. Listed a 6’6 245 Fountain is one of if not the best DE in Georgia in the 2024 Class. Long and lean and I expect he could add 20 pounds of muscle at the next level without losing any quickness. Aggressive with long arms that helps him keep the blockers off and good “ups” to disrupt the passing lanes. Recent USC commit and this guy has the potential to be a big-time player at the College (and beyond) level.
Region 7-2A
Brent Washington RB/LB (’24 Rockmart)
The 2022 Defensive Player of the Year in 7-2a, Washington will play more of a role on both sides of the ball in ’23. The 6’0 228-pound Washington has been timed at 4.6 in the 40 and is a load to bring down when he gets up to full steam. Explosive first step on defense and has a nose for the football. He only carried the ball 65 times last season but was efficient with 10 touchdowns and averaged over 7 yards per carry. He has had a lot of attention this offseason with offers from MTSU, App State, and Liberty among others. His recruitment will pick up as the Jackets look to win their 7 region Title in a row and make another deep run in the State playoffs.
Caiden Tanner QB (’24 Union Co)
Tanner had a breakout season for Union County in 2022. He passed for a Class AA best 2854 yards in 12 games. The 5’11 165 is an accurate passer and can get things done with his legs if he has too, gaining close to 300 yards on the ground last season. He has a lot of pieces returning from last season’s 8-4 team and will be a QB to watch in North Georgia. Recently picked up his first offer from Sewanee.
