Head Coach Brian Wright, the Gorilla coaching staff, current PSU players, and Pitt State Alumni helped work the camp.
Prep Redzone Kansas was present and accounted for to scout and analyze the players from Kansas who participated.
Here is the second of multiple scouting reports about players who showed off their skills in Pittsburg. This report focuses on four state-ranked players from the Class of 2024.
Stay tuned for more reports from the Pitt State camp this evening and this weekend.
Kason Messenger Kason Messenger 6'1" | 220 lbs | ATH Cheney | 2024 State KS , ATH, 6’1”, 220, Cheney
Messenger just has the look of a football player. He is strong, fast, and versatile. He can serve as an edge-rushing pass-rusher, a linebacker, or even a strong safety. He plays defensive line for Cheney but could be moved further back in the defensive backfield at the college level. The awesome thing about this young man is he just wants to play and does not care where. The Cheney prospect is ranked No. 59 in the Class of 2024 by Prep Redzone. He does have offers from both NAIA and JUCO programs.
Ray Smith III Ray Smith III 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Olathe East | 2024 State KS , LB, 6’2”, 220, Olathe East
Smith is the eight-highest-ranked linebacker in Kansas. He is a physical specimen and just looks like he enjoys hitting people. He has a long stride and moves well laterally. He looked really solid during the agility drills. He is listed as a linebacker, but I would have liked to have seen him take some reps at tight end. He would be a load to tackle if he has good hands. Prep Redzone has him ranked No. 72 overall among his Class of 2024 peers in Kansas.
Cale Milleson Cale Milleson 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Wichita Heights | 2024 State KS , ATH, 5’11”, 190, Wichita Heights
Milleson is a player who has all of the tools but size. He is fast, strong, and thick. He just isn’t six-foot. He for sure stood out in the group of players he was working with and opened the eyes of onlookers quickly at the camp. The first thing I noticed was how strong his legs were. For a shortish prospect, he has legs like Clydesdales. He had scouts and coaches at the camp talking about him during drills. He is currently ranked No. 151 by Prep Redzone in the Class of 2024.
Jude Konrade Jude Konrade 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Hayden | 2024 State KS , LB, 6’1”, 200, Hayden
I don’t throw this name around lightly, but Konrade is a Brian Urlacher type of linebacker. He’s not quite 6-foot-4 like Urlacher, but he has a nose for the football and brings the wood when he hits people. He was impressive in all of the agility drills and moves well for a linebacker. He can stop the run, rush the passer, or drop back in coverage. Hayden’s quick linebacker is currently ranked No. 109 by Prep Redzone Kansas.
