We have some unselfish guys who leave it on the field and will do whatever is necessary to help their teams succeed. The skill and talent is all there, and once you see the film you will understand the reasoning why these backs have made this list. We will be keeping track of all of these players as they head into senior year ready to turn it up another notch.
Timothy Saunders
Timothy Saunders
Saunders is a home run hitter out of the backfield and an electric player who burns teams with his speed. He is a shifty back who can also accelerate to his top speed in a blink, and leave defenders reaching and diving at air. Saunders knows how to get into the open space and use his athleticism to his advantage. He has shown that once he gets to the outside, it is a wrap. Saunders has the ability to flip the momentum with big time runs and deflate a defense with his agility in the open field. Last season, Saunders tallied 979 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on 174 carries, and will be looked upon to be a leading guy on the offense once again next season.

Ramirez played a major role in the success of the Cypress Creek offense for the last few seasons and now he will get the opportunity to do the same for Cinco Ranch. He is a playmaker in the backfield, a back who knows how to navigate in tight spaces, and can elude defenders left and right. He is a tough runner who keeps his leg drive and will always fight for those extra yards. Ramirez showed confident hands out of the backfield, being a reliable target and a threat in the pass game, and a player who took advantage of mismatches in space. Even though his season was cut short, Ramirez put up some productive stats and looked good in the process of getting them. The Cougar offense is adding a fantastic player who is hungry to get back on the field and we will be watching.
Jaden Shelton
Jaden Shelton
Shelton has a physical run style that helps propel his team to success. He is a handful who will take on an entire defense and is unafraid of contact. It is rare now to see backs do work out of the I-formation, and Shelton makes a living from it. He is quick, pressing the line and then making his move. He accelerates through the open lanes and uses his strength to overpower defensive backs. Shelton does a lot of dirty work as well. He will be the lead blocker on sweeps and get out in the open field to clear the path for teammates, and will also stay in and pass protect to keep his quarterback clean. Shelton just has an outstanding game to him and will be a player to keep track of next season.
Terrell Smith III
Terrell Smith III
Explosive, electric, and a game changer. Just a few ways to describe Smith’s game. He is different with the ball in his possession. The acceleration and open field speed is unmatched. Smith looks like he is moving at a different speed at times and it seems like a big play anytime his number is called. Once he breaks passed the first level, defenders are put in the toughest positions when trying to bring him down. His ability to switch gears in a snap and bounce it to the outside where nobody can touch him makes him so dynamic. His play gives his team momentum and he can change the outcome of a game with one run. Smith is a player who should be on everybody’s list of players to watch heading into next season.
Davion Godley
Davion Godley
Godley’s play and numbers do all of the talking for him. He is a work horse with insane agility and elusiveness. Godley is shifty in the open field with great balance, which makes him a nightmare to bring down. His vision and ability to find the open and cutback lanes is top tier. He can make one cut and is off to the races. Godley posted multiple 200+ yard games and was a top runner in the state. He finished the season with a stunning 2,147 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on 236 carries. It is only up from here for Godley. We expect him to pick up from last year and continue to dominate on the field.
Harris showed to be a very skilled back with patience and another gear hitting the second level. His speed is game changing and he is capable of breaking a big run every time he touches the ball. The acceleration is jaw dropping. He is explosive with great vision, which leads to his momentum shifting carries. Harris finished the season with 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns on 220 carries. We expect him to come back even better for his senior year.
