Today, we will be evaluating some highly explosive athlete prospects that made their presence known on the field as juniors. Without any further ado, here’s my list of some uncommitted senior athletes in Kentucky to watch out for this upcoming season.
At the top of my list of standouts is Sage Dawson Sage Dawson 5'11" | 150 lbs | ATH Boyle County | 2024 State KY , a 6-foot-0, 160-pound athlete at Boyle County High School. Dawson was a highly explosive weapon on both sides for the Rebels during his junior stint of high school football last year. In 13 contests, Dawson threw 132 completions out of 201 attempts for 1,704 yards and 24 touchdowns. Dawson also recorded 96 rush attempts for 623 yards and five scores. On the other side of the ball, Dawson recorded 17 total tackles, including 10 solo stops, seven assisted takedowns and one tackle for loss. Dawson additionally hauled in one interception. In addition to outstanding size, speed and athleticism, what stands out about Dawson is his well-balanced playstyle, arm strength, physicality and his ability to capitalize under pressure. The rising senior out of Danville, KY. also caught my eye with his overall composure under pressure and his ability to pounce on playmakers in the backfield.

Claiming the second place spot on my list of notable performers is Cam Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound athlete at Kentucky Country Day High School. Edwards was one of the most impactful players on the Bearcats’ roster during his junior campaign of high school football last year. In 12 games, Edwards hauled in 30 receptions for 359 yards and seven touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, Edwards collected 12 total tackles, including 11 solo stops, one assisted takedown, one tackle for loss and one sack. Edwards also forced one turnover, made two fumble recoveries and hauled in four interceptions for 49 yards and one defensive score. The rising senior out of Louisville, KY. is highly versatile and athletic, utilizing his size, speed, physicality and wide array of skills to make his presence known on the field on both sides. Edwards plays quick off the snap and is difficult to contain due to his overall explosiveness and footwork.

Finishing in the number three spot on my list of standouts is Tayvian Boykins Tayvian Boykins 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Pikeville | 2024 State KY , a 5-foot-10, 160-pound athlete at Pikeville High School. Boykins made a huge difference on both sides of the ball for the Panthers during his junior season of high school football last year, contributing as both a running back and a wide receiver. In 13 games, Boykins recorded 48 rush attempts for 475 yards and seven touchdowns, and 30 receptions for 375 yards and three scores. In addition to excellent size, speed and physicality, what stands out about Boykins is his composure, durability and, ability to consistently break tackles and use bursts of speed to escape pressure. The rising senior out of Pikeville, KY. also stands out due to his footwork, athleticism and his ability to consistently read the opposition like a book.

At number four on my list is Kaleb Dionne Kaleb Dionne 6'1" | 160 lbs | ATH Grant County | 2024 KY , a 6-foot-1, 160-pound athlete at Grant County High School. Dionne was an explosive playmaker on both sides of the ball for the Braves during his junior season of high school football last year. In 10 games, Dionne collected a total of two rush attempts and 28 receptions for 320 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side, Dionne recorded a total of 14 tackles, including 12 solo stops, two assisted takedowns and one tackle for loss. Dionne also hauled in an interception and defensive score. What stands out about Dionne is his explosive speed and overall toughness off the snap, using his physical edge to escape pressure and make stops. The rising senior out of Dry Ridge, KY. also impresses me with his durability and quickness on the ground, blasting past defenders in the pocket while consistently applying heavy defensive pressure on the other side.

Coming in at number five on my list of standouts is Nathan Riddell Nathan Riddell 5'8" | 160 lbs | ATH Carroll County | 2024 KY , a 5-foot-9, 164-pound athlete at Carroll County High School. Riddell made a considerable impact for the Panthers during his junior stint of high school football last year. In 12 contests, Riddell picked up a total of four rush attempts for a pickup of two yards on the ground. On the defensive end, Riddell recorded a total of three total stops, bringing down three offensive playmakers by himself. Riddell impresses me with his quickness off the snap, smart decision making, his ability to blast defenders with his physicality on the ground and his deceptive footwork. The rising senior out of Carrollton, KY. also caught my attention with his well-balanced playstyle and overall defensive effort as he consistently found ways to disrupt the offense.
