Continue ReadingMilton Hershey went 6-5 last year and made it to the PIAA State Playoff where they lost to Twin Valley. The year before Milton Hershey went 4-6, and the previous season was canceled because of Covid. Milton Hershey has rebounded from a cancelation and one down year to bounce back with a winning season. Jeff Boger has been the Head Coach of Milton Hershey since 2009 and has done an excellent job. Milton Hershey is such a unique and rewarding job because kids come from all over the country to live and study. The only issue is they do not have any pre-season workouts and they do not have a pipeline of players. That being said Milton Hershey brings back a ton of talent this year I expect them to compete and have a good year in the ultra-competitive Mid-Penn Conference.
Key returning players this year:
Highlights
Angel Roberts Angel Roberts 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Milton Hershey | 2024 State PA . Roberts is a talented wide receiver that has had a strong off-season showcasing his skills at different camps. He had a good Junior year and hopes to build on it this season. He has picked up two College Football offers so far including Lock Haven. Below is what I wrote about Roberts earlier this year:
Roberts has very good size and uses his body well to shield defenders to make catches. He is also very good on deep balls. When the ball is in the air he attacks it and makes plays. He is very good at catching fade balls in tight coverage. Roberts also excels at the yard after the catch. You can throw him a pass and he is dynamic with the ball in his hands. He has good speed and makes people miss in the open field. Roberts also runs good routes, several times in I film I saw him run routes where the defenders did not know where he was going.
Highlights
Michael Blidi Michael Blidi 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Milton Hershey | 2024 State PA . Blidi is one of the fastest risers in the 2024 class. He played outside linebacker for Milton Hershey last year. At the Prep Redzone Prospect Camp in May, he won the MVP for the Defensive line. Blidi has the size, athleticism, and aggression to play College Football. He currently has an offer from Wheeling University and has visited several other colleges this summer. This is what I wrote about Blidi earlier this year:
A late bloomer who only recently got added to our site Blidi is a very good athlete that is a true hybrid player. He can play an outside linebacker of the ball player and he is good at it. He can drop in coverage and play the flat very well. The other position he can play is a stand-up defensive end. He is such a good athlete that he can play the edge well against the run and pass. Several times on film I saw him set the edge and then come down and make plays. He has long arms and when he gets near a pass he can knock it down or when he pressures the quarterback he can deflect the pass. Blidi has a chance to play at the next level and the sky’s the limit for him.
Highlights
Elijah Johnson Elijah Johnson 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Milton Hershey | 2024 State PA . Johnson is another talented player who played running back for Milton Hershey last year. Johnson like Roberts and Blidi was outstanding at the Prep Redzone Prospect Camp in May. Here is what I wrote about him at the camp:
Johnson came into the camp a little unknown as a College Football Prospect but quickly made a name for himself at the prospect camp. He showed good athleticism and burst all day at the camp. He was particularly good in one on one drills where is constantly beat defenders. In the individual drills, he showed good bursts and made the proper cuts with the ball in his hands. He caught the ball well and once he got into the open field he displayed an ability to make people miss. Johnson is an exciting College Football Prospect who with a strong Senior year should get some serious College Football looks.
Mohamed Koroma Mohamed Koroma 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Milton Hershey | 2024 State PA . Koroma is another talented player for Milton Hershey who played wide receiver and defensive back for them last year. He is another player from Milton Hershey who stood out at the Prep Redzone Prospect Camp in May. Here is what Vic Castillo Vic Castillo RB PA my colleague wrote about Koroma after the camp:
On a day where ridiculous 40 numbers were being posted, a prospect running a 4.56 can actually be overlooked. That was the case for Milton Hershey’s Mohamed Koroma Mohamed Koroma 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Milton Hershey | 2024 State PA . I’m going to dive a bit deeper into Koroma’s game when we get to the Milton Hershey-specific article. For now, I have to mention how well Koroma fit in with the big-time talent in this group. He didn’t shy away from competition, he listened to coaching and got better as the camp progressed. There is hype building around the MH program, we only expect Roberts and Koroma to lead the offense moving forward. Like Koroma’s blend of strength and speed. The kid isn’t a one-trick pony.
Noah Gibbs
Noah Gibbs
Noah Gibbs. Gibbs played offensive tackle for Milton Hershey last year. Gibbs shows good strength as he is able to attack and block defensive linemen well. Gibbs does a particularly good job blocking down on defensive tackles when he shows some devastating blocks. He shows good athleticism by pulling and kicking out defenders. He also shows good feet by moving them well in pass blocking. Gibbs showed good movement and does a nice job blocking linebackers downfield. Gibbs is a good player and should have a good chance at playing College Football if he has a strong Senior year.
Syncere Rascoe
Syncere Rascoe
Syncere Rascoe. Rascoe played cornerback and wide receiver for Milton Hershey last year. At wide receiver, he shows good hands and runs good routes as well. He is really good at catching short passes and making a play after catching the ball. Hershey threw hitches, and wide receiver screens to him and he showed he could catch the ball and get yards after the catch. At cornerback, he showed he can play zone coverage and man-to-man coverage as well. He is fluid and really good at doing either one. Rascoe with a strong Senior year should be able to get some College Football looks.
Haize Fulton
Haize Fulton
Haize Fulton. Fulton played linebacker for Milton Hershey last year. He is undersized for the position but made up for it by doing a good job reading and reacting to the play. His play recognition from his linebacker position is impressive, as he is able to read and decipher the play well. He then does a good job coming upfield to make a tackle. He does a nice job taking on blockers and then keeping his shoulder free to make tackles. Fulton also does a nice job running sideline-to-sideline to pursue ball carriers. Fulton looks like he could play at a Division 2 or 3 level and with a strong Senior year he should have an opportunity.
Jason Burney
Jason Burney
Jason Burney. Burney does not have a lot of film to watch, but in the small clips I saw you can see he has talent to play quarterback. He was the backup QB and got some playing time when the start got hurt. He will be in a quarterback competition in the fall and I heard that he will probably be the starter. If Burney wins the starting QB job he will have an opportunity to get some College Football looks.
Elijah Hopkins
Elijah Hopkins
Elijah Hopkins. Hopkins started the season as the 3rd string quarterback but ended up playing when both starting quarterbacks got hurt last year. Hopkins shows good poise in the pocket and never seems to get rattled. He has a strong arm and shows it off when he throws deep balls when he throws it with good zip. The left-hander has good footwork in the pocket and does a nice job setting his feet and throwing the ball. Hopkins also showed good athleticism by running when the kay breaks down and when he throws on the run. For a Freshman to step into Varsity action Hopkins showed he belonged.
Kah’Dyn Gann
Kah’Dyn Gann
Kah’Dyn Gann. This film breakdown is based on his Junior Varsity film, but Gann showed he has the tools to be a good player for Milton Hershey this year. He played running back for Milton Hershey. When he touched the ball he was a homerun hitter waiting to happen. Several times he ran the ball and made big plays. When he gets into the open field he has elite speed to run past defenders. He also showed elusive speed and a burst in the hole. Gann is someone to keep an eye on for the next few years.
Final Thoughts: Milton Hershey should have an excellent chance to build on their season from last year and possibly compete for a Mid-Penn Conference Section Title. They play in a competitive conference, but they bring back some talent that should allow them to compete against the good teams in their league. At the very least I see them having another winning season.
