Continue ReadingGettysburg went 8-3 last year including 6-1 in the Colonial Division of the Mid-Penn Conference to win the Division. Gettysburg then lost in round one of the playoffs to Cocalico to conclude their season. Gettysburg brings back a ton of talented players from last year’s team, so should be able to follow up last year’s season with another good year. Matt Heiser has been the Head Coach for Gettysburg since 2012. Heiser has consistently led the program to successful seasons. Also, Gettysburg has had an interesting journey in the last few seasons. They left the Mid-Penn Conferences to join the York-Adams League starting in 2015 until they ultimately switched back to the Mid-Penn Conference last year. Gettysburg returns a ton of talent from last year’s team so I expect them to be competitive again this year.
Top returning players:
Highlights
Jaceb Dickerson
Jaceb
Dickerson
6'2" | 255 lbs | DL
Gettysburg Area | 2024
State
PA
. Dickerson is a really good player who played defensive line for Gettysburg last year. Dickerson has gone on several College visits. Dickerson has offers currently from Carnegie Messlon, Grinnell College, and Ross-Hulman Institute of Technology. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year:
Dickerson is a legit prospect at the defensive line position. He has a great burst off the ball. He is very good at timing the snap and attacking offensive linemen. He uses has great technique, which starts with his stance. He uses his hands very well. He always gets hands-on offensive linemen trying to block him. Dickerson also has a great motor. He is constantly hustling and chasing down plays.
Landon Keefer Landon Keefer 5'11" | 155 lbs | WR Gettysburg | 2024 State PA . Keefer is a talented player who started at wide receiver for Gettysburg last year. He should have a good chance at playing College Football with a strong Senior Year. Below is what I wrote about Keefer earlier this year:
Keefer played wide receiver and defensive back for Gettysburg last year. At wide receiver, he runs good routes and catches the ball well. He could get in and out of breaks while running his routes. At defensive back, Keefer showed good ball skills. Keefer is good at making a play on the ball and breaking up on pass plays. He also provides run support at defensive back and makes tackles in the open field. Keefer is a good prospect who shows good skills on both sides of the ball.
Jarome Benjamin
Jarome Benjamin
Jarome Benjamin. Benjamin played guard and defensive tackle for Gettysburg last year. He shows good strength at the point of attack when blocking defensive players. He does a nice job of engaging defensive linemen and then pushing them off the ball. He shows he has good feet and moves them well while he blocks. Benjamin shows good athleticism by the way he moves. At defensive line he is hard to block one-on-one. He also has a motor that never stops. Benjamin also does a good job of using his hands to get on offensive linemen. Benjamin is a good prospect and recently picked up his 1st offer from Albright University. I expect more to come.
Devin Campbell
Devin Campbell
Devin Campbell. Campbell played outside linebacker for Gettysburg last year. He does have limited film, but he showed some solid skills in his limited film. He does a good job reading and reacting to the play and then coming upfield to make the play. He did a solid job of tackling players in the open field. I expect Campbell to have a bigger impact this year on the field.
Highlights
Brady Heiser Brady Heiser 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Gettysburg | 2025 State PA . Heiser is one of the best quarterbacks in District 3 and the State of Pennsylvania. He is also the son of Head Coach Matt Heiser. Heiser can make all the throws and is also good at the QB run game as well. Heiser has visited different College Camps this summer, but he has not gained any offers yet. I expect him to get offers at some point. He is too talented to not get an offer. Here is what my colleague Vic Castillo Vic Castillo RB PA said about Heiser earlier this year:
Heiser doesn’t have the FBS offer yet, but his tape is too good to not place third. Without a doubt the more mobile of the three prospects listed thus far. The freshman tape still shows a bit of a wind-up when attacking a defense vertically, but Heiser has more than enough torque in his throws to lead his receivers open and in stride on streaks downfield. Love his ability to scan a field in a clean pocket, as well as on the go or under pressure. Excellent depth perception has Heiser dropping balls into buckets downfield with just a flick. Heiser provides a different wrinkle, executing RPOs like he’s a veteran in the offense. Good on Gettysburg utilizing Heiser’s feet and maximizing his game-changing potential. Offers are offers, Heiser’s time will come.
Shayde Shultz
Shayde Shultz
Shayde Shultz. Shultz played wide receiver and defensive back last year. I was blown away by his film. He is a good athlete that moves well. At wide receiver, he is a tough player to tackle. He has good quickness and when he catches the ball he does a nice job of making people miss in space. He catches the ball well, especially in tight windows or in traffic. At defensive back, he is good in both zone coverage and man-to-man coverage. He has good technique and does a nice job playing coverage on different players. Shultz doesn’t have the biggest size, but he makes up for it by the way he plays. Shultz is also a good tackler who does a nice job in the open field making tackles. On both sides of the ball, Shultz shows good skills and is a dynamic player. Shultz has some talent and should be able to get some College Football looks in the future.
Preston Burnett Preston Burnett 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Gettysburg | 2026 State PA . Burnett played running back for Gettysburg last year. As a Freshman playing his 1st Varsity snaps Burnett was super impressive. He is a dynamic running back and if he gets a seem he explodes through it for big gains. When Burnett gets into the open field he has elite speed to run past the defense. He is also a physical runner that rarely goes down after the 1st tackler. Burnett also played outside linebacker. He showed good skills by reading and reacting to the play well and then coming upfield to make the tackle. Burnett flashed a lot of skills and should only get better going into his sophomore year.
Highlights
Sam Dickerson. Dickerson is another talented player from the 2026 class. Below is what I wrote about Dickerson earlier this year:
Dickerson played defensive linemen for Gettysburg. In the limited film I saw, he did flash some good skills. Dickerson is a good athlete that is able to use that athleticism to get in the backfield and make plays. He shows good strength and is able to bully offensive linemen. He uses his hands well to get on opposing offensive linemen so that he can get in the backfield to make plays. Dickerson is a good prospect and I cannot wait to watch his film in the future.
Mauricio Escobar
Mauricio Escobar
Mauricio Escobar. Escobar has limited film and the film is just from Junior Varsity, but his film shows someone who is electric with the ball in his hands. He played wide receiver, running back, and wildcat QB in Junior Varsity. When he touches the ball he makes people miss in space and shows good speed. He hits the hole well and shows a good burst. He is also a physical runner that rarely goes down after the 1st tackler. Escobar also played cornerback and did a nice job in coverage. Escobar is a talented player who should become a bigger contributor next season for Gettysburg.
David Beamer
David Beamer
David Beamer. Beamer played wide receiver for Gettysburg last year. Beamer is used as a hybrid player on offense. He is used as a wide receiver/h-back. He usually plays off the tight end, tackles, or in the slot. He does a nice job of blocking from that position. He is very good at dropping into the flat and finding an opening. He catches the ball well and makes difficult catches. He is especially good at going low to make a catch. Beamer also ran jet sweeps from his position as well. Beamer is a nice player that you can move around and he can do a lot of things for an offense. I am excited to see how he does this season.
Final Thoughts:
Gettysburg is a talented team who brings back a ton of talent from last year’s team. I expect them to be competitive in every game and have a chance to win almost all their games. They are probably the favorite to win the Colonial Division of the Mid-Penn Conference next season as well.
