Chase Morrison Chase Morrison 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Roswell | 2024 State GA – EDGE – Roswell
One of the top EDGE prospects and overall defenders in 6A, and really across Georgia for the 2024 class, Morrison flashed easy Power Five ability all season long last fall as a junior, leading the Hornets to a deep playoff run in 2022. Now, Morrison has made his college commitment, and he made it to Virginia. He’ll bring plenty of size and productivity to Virginia in 2024 as he was all over the field as a junior last year, making 109 tackles, 19 TFLs, 11 sacks, 10 QB hurries, and deflected four passes. He’s smart, instinctive, and plays the game the right way. He gets into the backfield with ease and has no problem plowing through blocks to make a play on the ball carrier. He does a lot of things well, and he’s only going to get better and better as a senior this fall for a strong Hornets defense.
Jaylin Lackey Jaylin Lackey 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB South Gwinnett | 2024 State GA – DB – South Gwinnett
Not only did the Virginia Cavaliers add a commitment from a top EDGE defender in Chase Morrison Chase Morrison 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Roswell | 2024 State GA , but they also added a commitment recently from Lackey, one of the top 2024 defensive back prospects in Gwinnett County. Virginia is now getting a quick, twitchy, two-way prospect with a lengthy wingspan and impressive ball skills. It wasn’t a great year overall for South Gwinnett last season, but it’s clear their playmaking wide receiver and defensive back was one of the bright spots. The 6-foot-0 185-pounds is quick, agile, and catches the ball well as a receiver who knows how to turn and fly down the field. Ad a defensive back, he can hold his own against tough receivers on a weekly basis and has no problem making a big tackle, even in space. He had plenty of D1 offers, and he’s giving Virginia a prospect who will push for early playing time in 2024.
Myles Woods – LB – Grayson
One of the top defenders on an outstanding Grayson team, Woods is a quick-reacting linebacker who knows how to make a secure tackle. He understands his role, shows good instincts, and knows how to fly to the ball-carrier. He tackles extremely well around the feet, not allowing opposing backs to break tackles. He can fly into the backfield easily if unblocked and can blow up any particular play. He showed easy D1 potential all season long, and he made his commitment recently to Coastal Carolina. This is a massive pickup for Coastal who is getting a tough but quick defender who made lots of plays for a major 7A program. As a junior last year, Woods made 71 tackles, 7 TFLs, and three pass deflections.
