The defensive linemen as a group may be our strongest position for the Class of 2026 and Jervell Barksdale Jr Jervell Barksdale Jr 6’1″ | 230 lbs | DL Manchester | 2026 State VA . is another reason why. The Lancers should be big time Class 6 contenders this fall and we have profiled many of their upcoming stars with Barksdale being the latest. He is a 6’1 225 lb. defensive end who plays much older than his age. Nabbing all-region honorable mentions honors last fall its clear he is on a number of coaches radars. Growing into his body still, Barksdale plays his end position with a high IQ level and has a 3.4 GPA. I would expect him to reach double digits in sacks this fall and to garner the attention of FCS schools at the very least.
6’3 and 230 lbs. of muscle and he is only a sophomore, the Collegiate Cougars have a stud in Aaron Atkins Aaron Atkins 6’2″ | 230 lbs | DL Collegiate | 2026 State VA . The rising sophomore reclassified back in April and that should only delight Cougars fans more, knowing he has three more years to wreak havoc. The Cougars use him at both defensive tackle and end as he has quick get off and is too athletic for many offensive lineman to handle.
Kolter Scanlon Kolter Scanlon 6’3″ | 210 lbs | DL Ridgeview | 2026 State VA is a bad man off the edge for the Ridgeview Crusaders. He is a mix of elite speed and power you can see why they love him on the outside rushing the passer. Standing at 6’3 and 210 lbs. Scanlon is coming into his own at defensive end. Also playing wide receiver for the Crusaders, the coaching staff is hoping his speed and reach will take over as his future may be on the defensive side of the ball.
The Alleghany Mountaineers rising sophomore Mark Hunter Mark Hunter 6’3″ | 290 lbs | DL Alleghany | 2026 State VA is a mean force on the defensive line. Playing the game with a high motor and IQ you can see the potential for him to be a FBS level player. He is just under 300 lbs. but he moves off the ball with great quickness and awareness. Right now he is a stout defensive tackle, but I could see him playing more off the edge this fall, his pocket of pass rush moves show he can.
If you do get your hands on Treyvon Grayson Treyvon Grayson 6’1″ | 275 lbs | DL Unity Reed | 2026 State VA off the snap he will make you pay for it. Unity Reeds star sophomore Grayson is a brute force at noseguard for the Lions, constantly driving blockers into the backfield. He has good footwork and has potential at offensive tackle too. I like him on both sides of the ball, but we have him ranked higher as a defensive tackle cause in my opinion that is where he will play major college football at. Future is bright Grayson, regardless of where the Lions have him playing, he is a star in the making.
