Here are a handful of running backs in Orange County that could have big seasons in 2023.
Anthony Abad
Anthony Abad
Abad was the second leading sophomore rusher in Orange County last season behind Jordon Davison Jordon Davison 6’0″ | 210 lbs | RB Mater Dei | 2025 State CA of Mater Dei.
He ran for 1,154 yards on 181 carries with 14 touchdowns for a Sonora team that reached the playoffs last season.
Abad had five 100-plus yard games and had a 91-yard touchdown run against Loara.
Eli Bray
Eli Bray
Bray is a good athlete who plays on both sides of the ball for Crean Lutheran and is a lacrosse player too.
He ran for 493 yards on 88 carries with five touchdowns as a sophomore for the Saints who had their best season in school-history.
Bray had his best game against Rancho Christian where he ran for 149 yards on 26 carries with a pair of touchdowns.
William Pardue
William Pardue
Pardue was the third-leading rusher for Westminster last season on a team that ran for 181 yards per game.
He ran for 500 yards on 51 carries with a pair of touchdowns.
His biggest game of the season came against Anaheim when he ran for 200 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown.
Jarett Sabol
Jarett Sabol
Sabol is one of the best athletes in South Orange County and is committed to USC for baseball as a sophomore.
He had a breakout game in Aliso Niguel’s first round playoff loss to Crean Lutheran.
Sabol ran for 330 yards on 26 carries with four touchdowns in a 35-34 loss. The 330 yards may have been a school-record for the Wolverines.
He will be the primary running back for Aliso Niguel this season and we will see how much workload they put on Sabol given he wants to stay healthy for baseball season.
Noah Tagaloa
Noah Tagaloa
Tagaloa was the third leading sophomore rusher in Orange County behind Davison and Abad.
He ran for 755 yards on 116 carries with 11 touchdowns. He also had 438 receiving yards with four touchdowns.
Tagaloa and Noble Acosta Noble Acosta 5’10” | 185 lbs | ATH Segerstrom | 2024 CA could be a dangerous 1-2 punch at running back for Segerstrom in 2023.
