This group of prospects in my eyes were the first batch of top performers in my eyes as the versatility each one of these Iowa and South Dakota prospects have showed off a significant ceiling for their skillsets to keep growing.
Tyson Sessions, WR/DB, Sargent Bluff-Luton (IA) 2027
Tyson would have been my selection for MVP from this Sargent Bluff-Luton squad on Sunday as before I even got to see him on the field he passed my eye test with the frame he showed off. He showed off an impressive catch radius for his age, and had the stretch in his upper body as a pass-catcher to make the tougher higher traffic balls look routine with the balance he showed off in his game. I thought throughout the 7v7 games I got to watch, that this kid grew significantly with his instincts on both sides of the ball which shows how quick he can adjust and grow with his football ceiling. Certainly a prospect to watch in Sargent Bluff-Luton’s incoming freshmen class this fall season in my eyes.
Kasen Meyer, DB, Harrisburg (SD)/SD Elite 2028
Kasen was a prospect I recall from the SD Elite tryout I attended in winter that has blossomed with his football IQ as he has put together some athletic skillsets since winter that showed out on Sunday. He was not the biggest defensive back you will ever see as of yet, but he makes up for it with his physicality levelswith his ball-tracking ability at defensive back. He also is a DB prospect that has some elusive skillsets in his game that can quickly adjust to the route he sees with his his vision quickly on the fly. A 2028 prospect that plays with some really good instinct for his age with a good ceiling of potential.
Ryan Husen, ATH, Sargent Bluff-Luton (IA) 2027
Ryan showed off a versatile & athletic prospect for SBL, on both sides of the ball a couple Sundays ago. As a wide receiver, he showed great rotations with his hands and getting them in position to make a catch when the ball was slightly off line from his route as he showed off catchy instincts as a pass-catcher for SBL. This young man also played with a ton of balanced tendencies wherever he was on the football field from his hands, to his route-running, and with his ball-tracking ability on defense. I loved the effort he gave on all fronts at Battle in the Borders as a Iowa prospect to watch in the 2027 class.
Hudson Hillman, DB, Harrisburg (SD)/SD Elite 2028
This South Dakota Elite squad had a nice plethora of defensive backs that shined out on Saturday with the other being Hudson Hillman. Each time I got to watch Hudson live in my live-evaluation he had his hands right in the bread basket of the pass-catcher and had super competitive consistency with that skillset in my eyes. I also loved the huge coverage area he could work in as he showed off some quick-striding ability at Battle of the Borders.
