The team will be losing a lot of firepower since the senior class of 2023 was so loaded, but players on this team are ready to step up and fill the holes left behind. With their only loss to Ramapo in October, Old Tappan finished the season as state champions and with the hope to repeat this fall.
Evan Brooks Evan Brooks 6’4″ | 195 lbs | WR Old Tappan | 2024 State NJ is the target you look for any time you get into the red zone. A soon to be senior WR and defensive back, Evan pulled in 10 touchdowns and 905 yards last season as he dominated his competition. A player with great size already, Evan is not easy to defend in the end zone, and is often found jumping over defenders to catch the ball at the highest point. Evan has extremely strong hands and catches the ball away from his body while never letting go. You’ll have a tough time trying to swat the ball out of his hands. While Evan isn’t the speediest wideout, he is extremely deadly in jump ball situations or with any 50/50 balls. Thrown to by a very talented QB last season, it will interesting to see if there are any changes in performance next season. I highly doubt it since Evan is that dominant.
Highlights
While his last name may be Small, Jack is anything but that. Standing at 6’7″, Jack has D1 size and capabilities on both sides of the ball. Playing tackle on offense, Jack is the type of player that will continue blocking until the whistle blows. He extends his arms like a bench press and delivers punishing hands to anyone trying to rush the passer. In the run game, you can be sure Jack will wall off defenders and create massive running holes for his team.
On defense, Jack was able to bring the QB down 5 times and accumulated 79 tackles last season. A force to be tackled by, Jack has an athletic build and is much quicker than you would expect. You don’t come across talent like Jack very often, so make sure you give him an offer before it’s too late.
Nick Rossi is a player ready to attack any ball carrier. A LB for Old Tappan, Nick was able to bring in 61 tackles and force a fumble last season. This is a player that is built tough and has a motor that is always running. Delivering hard hits, Nick has a nose for the ball and quickly anticipates the direction of the play. A player that can put pressure on the QB very quickly, Nick is fast into the backfield and truly flies all over the field. Nick also played a role on offense as a wing back/ H back last season, and I expect him to get more work in 2023.

Dennis Delaney Dennis Delaney 6’0″ | 215 lbs | OL Old Tappan | 2024 NJ is another powerful offensive and defensive lineman for Old Tappan. Bringing in 89 tackles, 8 sacks and forcing 2 fumbles, you can see from the stats how much of an impact Dennis made on the defensive side of the ball. Lining up at defensive end, Dennis was another tough defender for the team as he fought his way to get to the QB and make a play in the backfield. He may have been a smaller defensive lineman, but he made a huge impact.
On offense, Dennis is a pancake blocking guard. He has the speed to get around for the pull and lead the way for his runner. Dennis will continue to get more and more recognition as he makes more big plays on both sides of the ball.
Christian Greaney
Christian Greaney
Old Tappan is loaded with returning talent, and this list could practically cover the entire team. However, the last player on this list that deserves more recognition is Christian Greaney. With 54 total tackles on the season, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 sack and interception, and 5 TFLs, Christian was a low key beast for Old Tappan last season. A player with already great size and athleticism, Christian played a somewhat hybrid defensive back position last season. When he was up towards the line he would hug tight to the tackle and collapse any hole the offense had made. He was player you could rely on to make the tackle in open space. Also playing an H back position on offense, look for Christian to make more plays on that side of the ball next season.
