Continue ReadingLouisiana high schools began hitting the in-state colleges’ 7-on-7 tournament circuit this month with Southeastern Louisiana.
A pair of New Orleans programs were the last two standing with Edna Karr topping Holy Cross for the day’s title.
Here were a few of the players who caught the attention of Prep Redzone Louisiana during the course of the event.
Shavez Morris — 6-0, 180 DB — Edna Karr (2024)
The Cougars’ rising senior defensive back continued his strong spring with multiple interceptions on the day. Morris, who received his first offer last month from Mississippi Valley State, has seemed to make big plays every time out on the field this spring both for Edna Karr and in non-school 7-on-7 settings.
Michael Quinn Michael Quinn 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Edna Karr | 2026 State LA — DB — Edna Karr (2026)
Officially welcome a new name from the Cougars’ talented secondary to the Prep Redzone Louisiana radar. The sophomore corner jumped at least a couple of passes for interceptions to help chip into the group’s takeaway party.
Keith Jones Jr. — 6-3 WR — Edna Karr (2024)
The Cougars’ already-exciting, explosive receiving corps had a somewhat familiar face providing some notable size outside for the tournament in Jones, a star of the school’s basketball team.
Cole Canatella — 5-11, 180 QB — Holy Cross (2024)
and Finn Martin Finn Martin 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Holy Cross | 2025 LA — 5-10, 165 WR — Holy Cross (2025)
The Tigers are still earlier in their overall offseason work and development than many of their peers after a coaching change and no spring ball. But even considering those circumstances and with highest-profile prospects Koby Young Koby Young 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Holy Cross | 2024 State LA and Kross Johnson both out, the Tigers’ passing game clicked for much of the day to do its part in the team reaching the championship game. Canatella spread the ball around to different receivers and hit on several big plays deep. And Finn quickly rebounded from an early drop to make good on another touchdown opportunity moments later and catch maybe as many of Canatella’s passes as anyone during the course of the day.
Cedrick Harmon Cedrick Harmon 6'0" | 160 lbs | ATH Holy Cross | 2025 LA — 6-0, 160 WR/DB — Holy Cross (2025)
Listed as a wide receiver on the Tigers’ roster and wearing his No. ___ jersey, Harmon provided some of the team’s biggest defensive plays with at least a pair of end-zone interceptions to snatch possession from opponents and return the ball to Canatella.
Cam Dorsey — 6-1, 190 QB — Salmen (2024)
and Kaileb Rayford — 5-9, 155 WR/DB — Salmen (2024)
The Spartans have had a nice summer out on the school 7-vs-7 circuit this month with a pair of prospects set to join the Prep Redzone Louisiana rankings during the next update among the leaders. Dorsey was — and has been — efficient with most of the team’s opportunities, and Rayford has been an explosive weapon at his disposal.
Joey Davis Joey Davis 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR John F. Kennedy | 2024 State LA — 6-1, 175 WR — John F. Kennedy (2024)
The Cougars’ headline prospect on offense battled through an injured finger to still snag several big catches while on the campus of the handful of programs to extend recent offers. Southeastern Louisiana, Indiana, Marshall, Nicholls State and Samford have all recently joined previous offers from UTSA, South Alabama and Alabama State.
Demine Lee — 6-3, 185 DB — Booker T. Washington (2024)
Southeastern Louisiana coaches had their eyes on Lee, one of the bigger athletes on the Booker T. Washington squad who played well on the back end of the defense with his smooth movement in space and well-timed breaks for deflections.
Jamiante Barnes Jamiante Barnes 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Booker T. Washington (New Orleans) | 2025 State LA — 5-10, 165 DB/WR — Booker T. Washington (2025)
The rising junior has started getting more reps at defense and made one of the Lions’ highlight plays for the day on that side of the ball with an acrobatic, diving interception on the sideline.
