Continue ReadingA player that is capable of doing it all, Trey Lazar Trey Lazar 5’9″ | 170 lbs | ATH Spotswood | 2024 NJ played essentially every skill position on offense and defense for Spotswood in 2022. Accumulating 1432 all purpose yards and 15 touchdowns, it was very hard for defenses to keep track of where Trey was lining up on the field. As a runner, he delivers quick cuts and is elusive enough to dodge would be tacklers. As a receiver, he uses his agility to throw defensive backs off of his path and finds a way to get open. And as a passer, Trey is able to get the ball where it needs to be and deliver a very accurate ball. He even had 3 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. Trey may be small, but there is something special in his play. He is destined for a big senior year.
Alex Altemus Alex Altemus 5’10” | 200 lbs | LB Jonathan Dayton | 2024 NJ played both sides of the ball extremely well in 2022. Earning all division as a LB, Alex also excelled as a running back for Dayton. Alex has great size for both positions. As a runner, he utilizes his size by being a strong runner that keeps his legs churning for extra yards. He ran for 477 yards last season as he pierced through defensive lines and took off. He is a very reliable back between the tackles.
While Alex’s offensive tape is impressive, I see him thriving the most on the defensive side of the ball. With 32 total tackles on the season, he has quick recognition from the middle linebacker position and is able to bring the play to an end before it gets started. Colleges will be reaching out to Alex as he enters his senior year.
Xavier Padilla
Xavier Padilla
Xavier Padilla is a strong safety for Roselle Park. He is a taller safety, and he is only going to get better as he adds more size to his frame. A sure tackler, Xavier sprints upfield to fill the gap and bring the runner to the ground. As a pass coverage man, he is able to stick with receivers man to man and is always finding ways to get his hands up to get in the way of the throw. A player that is familiar with forcing turnovers, look for Xavier to make some very impactful plays next season.
The second player from Roselle Park is Adrian Palacios Adrian Palacios 5’11” | 175 lbs | DB Roselle Park | 2024 NJ . A safety when on defense, Adrian has quick recognition of the play and rarely lets receivers get behind him. He is able to break up the ball if its in the receivers hands, and will be looking to have a few more pass breakups and interceptions in 2023. On offense, Adrian was a shifty back that was able to get the job done when he needed to. While he plays both sides of the ball, I think Adrian is most valuable when lining up at the safety position. Look for Roselle Park to have a successful campaign in 2023.
