The camp also helped players prepare for the upcoming summer camp season. There were several players who stood out at this showcase, let’s take a look at the top Linebackers in attendance.
Kaden Thomas – Independence – Kaden stands at 6’1 and 200 pounds in the Class of 2024 as a college prospect. He has garnered college interest from a few schools thus far; I think he can definitely play on the next level. I love his athleticism and burst in short spaces, which is accented by his running track and doing well in it during the offseason. On film, he primarily played the EDGE position, so I’m excited to see his off-season work translate to a strong start to a big senior year.
Luke Fox – Cannon School – Luke has some great positional size at 6’4 and 180 pounds, and colleges will be interested off of his frame alone. But, the cool thing is Luke is a good football player as well. He is a prospect in the Class of 2024. Luke had a shortened season last year, but he can play a bit of a hybrid safety/outside linebacker role. Luke showed some ability to play off blocks and can move well to cover receivers and running backs in the disciplined zone and man coverage looks. I would expect interest from schools to come in with a strong start to the upcoming season.
Brooklin James – East Forsyth – Brooklin is a Class of 2024 prospect and stands at 5’11 and 200 pounds. Throughout the showcase, Brooklin showed some impressive agility and change of direction during the agility circuit and through the individual positional drills portion of the showcase. On film, Brooklin shows a good ability to diagnose and make plays in the run game, while showing the ability to play in space and cover slot receivers and tight ends in the passing game. Consistency will be important in a good start to the season, having good film, and garnering college interest from there.
Caiden Smith Caiden Smith 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Forest Hills | 2024 State NC – Forest Hills – At 6’2 and 215 pounds, Caiden was impressive throughout the entire duration of the showcase. As a Class of 2024 prospect, he is coming off of an All-Conference season for a very good Forest Hills team. He has had college interest and holds an offer from Keiser University at this time. On film, Caiden is a physical downhill thumper in the run game and shows good discipline in covering the middle of the field primarily in the passing game. He is a good middle linebacker prospect who I expect will gain more interest as the season gets started in the fall.
