This is a young man we will be talking up all off-season. With his combination of size and movement ability. Watson can be a game-changing player on every level of the defense
He recently tested at camp where he jump 10’4 in the broad, ran a 4.7, and 36-inch vert. Watson is an intriguing prospect heading into this season.
Highlights
Perhaps, the most physically gifted player on this list. Witherspoon has been blessed with size and length standing at 6’5 210 pounds. Not only does he have the size and length, but he has the mass, even on tape he appears to have an NFL-type body.
He currently plays both edge rusher and wide receiver but he will be a high-upside defensive prospect. Witherspoon’s name has been heating up over the last couple of months and going to continue that way into the season. Witherspoon will fly up recruiting boards during the season!
Luca athleticism is evident when you watch his tape. When you see how effortlessly its for him to cover ground and space you marvel at what he can do.
He’s a player that plays both ways as a standout linebacker and running back. Linebacker is where his future is and he has plenty of upside. He can play downhill, fight through blocks, make one on one tackles, cover, and play in space.
Gemma’s offer sheet is starting to take shape but don’t be surprised if the Power 5 teams start offering him.
Normally you find a player 6’5 235 that can move the way Bouman can, but he’s managed to carve out a role as an inside-out pass-catching threat.
Jaxson moves like a wide receiver at his size and has the highest potential as a player of anyone on this list. Since his skill set positively affects the offensive side of the ball and his best football will be ahead of him.
Bouman has the trifecta of versatility, athleticism, and smarts. Bouman is a prospect who just earned his first Power 5 offer from West Virginia. This trend will continue through the summer.
Laing is an interesting prospect for many reasons. First off, has the ideal look for a high-caliber cornerback. He is 6’1 170 pounds and has a long frame and build with room to add more weight. In addition, The flashes of athleticism he shows you have to get excited about. From showing his ability to recover on man coverage reps for interceptions, to his turn and run ability on deep passes. He almost doesnt lack anything physically that hinders him from being an impact outside corner.
He has upside from a schematic perspective also. He has a nice mix of reps executing different coverage techniques from off-zone and press man. At the moment he has high-end play in zone and has great instincts when going after the football. Also, know how to use length to alter the catch point. Lastly, he’s a willing tackler who can quickly diagnose screenplays.
If we’re being honest Laing is the perfect cornerback prospect, testing numbers aside. The only aspect that is concerning is a lot of his highlight plays came against bad competition. In addition, would’ve loved to see some of these reps against some of the better players in the state.
Yes, this would be considered nitpicking, however, competition matters. And he doesnt have many plays doing it against the best, but his talent and upside can’t be denied.
