Tristen Tuttle
Tristen Tuttle
Tyler Consolidated’s Tristen Tuttle could play on either side of the ball at the next level. Tuttle has great size as a jumbo athlete at 6’4 235 and could play tight end on offense or defensive end on defense in college. On defense, he can play as a traditional defensive end with his hand in the dirt or as a stand-up edge player. His combination of size and athleticism often gives opposing offensive linemen fits especially in WV’s AA classification. Tuttle showed good versatility in run defense and in pass rush using his length and athleticism to his advantage. He’s too quick off the ball for most offensive linemen in AA and does a nice job using his long wingspan to keep them from getting their hands on him. On offense, he has prototypical tight end size and his athleticism gives him the ability to be a complete tight end in run blocking and in the passing game. He didn’t see a ton of targets on offense but from what he showed on his junior film he has the capabilities to be a reliable blocker and pass catcher.
The upside is very high with 2024 Tristen Tuttle who should be a sought-after prospect this year.
Tyler Consolidated will also have one of the best running backs in AA with 2024 Sean Winfrey Sean Winfrey 6’0″ | 185 lbs | RB Tyler Consolidated | 2024 State WV . Winfrey had a prolific junior season for the Silver Knights rushing for over 1,500 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns. He’s a well-rounded runner who has solid size at 6’0 185 and can run between the tackles or take it outside. Winfrey has pretty good speed running in the mid-to-high 4-second 40-yard dash range and high 11 seconds in the 100-meter dash. He’s a hard runner who will break tackles and fight for extra yards and an overall tough player. Winfrey hits the hole with a purpose and will lower his shoulder on you. The one part of his game that you’d like to see more of on film is his ability to catch out of the backfield and blocking in the passing game to be a complete back. Winfrey is also a starting linebacker for his team.
Overall, Winfrey is a well-rounded running back who should be one of West Virginia’s rushing leaders in 2023.
Shane Bates
Shane Bates
Paving the way for Sean Winfrey Sean Winfrey 6’0″ | 185 lbs | RB Tyler Consolidated | 2024 State WV will be fellow 2024 classmate Shane Bates. Bates is a two-way starter for the Silver Knights of Tyler Consolidated on the offensive and defensive lines. He may have played every position on the offensive line last year other than center showing how versatile he is. However, at 6’0 265, he will likely stay inside at the next level at one of the guard spots. Bates showed he could play left or right side and performed equally on both sides. He’s a strong athlete who gets under defensive linemen well and does a nice job controlling them. Bates is a physical player who enjoys overpowering opposing players and finishing blocks. He also has enough athleticism to be able to pull and make blocks downfield. Bates keeps his feet moving and consistently drives his man backward. With his style of play, he could play defensive line at the next level but his best position is on the offensive line.
Another offensive lineman name to know from Tyler Consolidated is 2024 Ty Ferrell Ty Ferrell 6’1″ | 235 lbs | OL Tyler Consolidated | 2024 State WV . Ferrell played offensive tackle last season and can play on either side of the line. Although only listed as 6’0 and 230 pounds, Ferrell showed he could handle bigger bodies and the ability to move them. With his height, he can get under opposing defensive linemen and use his leverage to control where he wants them to go. He looks to be a strong athlete who can move well enough to pull and get out in space. Ferrell is quick off the ball and can get to the second level and block linebackers. Depending on how much weight he can hold, Ferrell could be used as an extra blocker or play some defensive line at the next level if his frame can’t hold offensive line caliber of weight. He would also be a highly sought-after Sprint Football offensive lineman if he’s able to cut weight for those leagues.
Sage Landis
Sage Landis
Although Tyler Consolidated is a run-heavy team, Sage Landis is a name to know at wideout. Landis is a standout pole vaulter for the Silver Knights’ track & field team and also runs the 100-meter dash in the mid-high 11-second range. On the football field, Landis showed he has enough speed to run past corners and safeties. He does a nice job on deep balls where he can either run under them or go up and make a tough contested catch. You can line him up out wide or in the slot where he’s versatile enough to play either. Landis is lethal at stretching the field after the offense lulls the defensive backs to sleep with the running game. You can also get him the ball on screens where he can use his athleticism and after-the-catch abilities to make plays. Landis also is a starter on defense where he can play corner or safety.
