We’ve got the details on Prep Redzone
A quick, active cornerback with length at 6-foot-0 165-pounds, Hopper is coming off an impressive junior season where he played hard-hitting, physical football in the secondary. Lining up against some top-notch 7A receivers in one of the toughest regions in the classification. Hopper showed a natural feel for the position and did a good job of dissecting plays before they happen. He plays with toughness, he runs well, and broke up quite a few passes last year in coverage. He showed good ball skills in the defensive backfield and is starting to see new offers come his way. So far this month, the Alpharetta Raider playmaker has earned new offers from Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, UAB, Toledo, Wofford, among others. He’s a sure tackler who can wrap up securely up high or around the feet of the ball carrier. Without a doubt one of the top returning CB prospects in the region next fall, look for Hopper to rise quickly sooner than later, leading to more heavy D1 interest and possible offers.
Trelain Maddox Trelain Maddox 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Buford | 2024 State GA – ATH – Parkview
An impressive athlete in the 2024 class, Maddox is a Buford transfer who will now play for a talented Parkview team as a senior in 2023. A tough, physical linebacker who knows how to strike, Maddox has a slew of impressive offers on his resume, but he earned new ones this month from Rutgers, Jacksonville State, UAB, and Kentucky. He’s put together well from a physical standpoint, and he showed during his time at Buford that he is capable of playing at the next level. As a running back, he’s a smooth runner who can glide and pick up yards in a hurry. He can be tough to bring down and shows the ability to break tackles. A two-way standout who can help Parkview in a number of different ways, look for Maddox to have a very impactful senior season as Parkview attempts to make a deep 7A playoff run in the fall.
KJ Smith – QB – Roswell
One of the more underrated QBs across Georgia right now, Smith is finally starting to see his recruitment pick up, and the playmaking signal-caller for the Roswell Hornets earned his first offer this week from Alabama State. Smith had an extremely productive junior season last fall in 2022, making big plays with both his arm and his legs while leading Roswell deep into the 6A playoffs.. A confident quarterback with plenty of talent and leadership skills, Smith is a consistently accurate passer with decent strong strength, but what stands out the most is ability to take off when he finds the right moment. He may be on the smaller side, which has effected his recruitment, but Smith still showed the ability to make game-changing plays. He rushed for just under 750 yards and 4 touchdowns last year and could have an even bigger senior season running the ball next fall. As a passer, he’s a great decision maker who had a knack for finding the end-zone. Smith threw for 2,758 yards and 34 touchdowns, proving that he can win games with his arm as well. Now that one offer is on the table, look for more to follow as Smith attempts to lead Roswell as the way as a senior in 2023.
