We are going to shine a spotlight on some guys that have the potential to have a big season this season. A few players you may already know and the rest you will become used to hearing the names this season.
Chase Smith Chase Smith 5'10" | 185 lbs | DB Longview | 2024 State TX -Defensive Back-Longview-5’10” 185-Pounds
The Longview defensive back is a prospect that is not afraid to get physical with opposing wide receivers. Smith has impressive versatility and can play the safety or cornerback positions with impressive precision. He has no problem separating the ball from the ball carrier. The Longview defensive back has the speed and the ability to play at the next level. He is a prospect to keep an eye out for this season.
Devin Green Devin Green 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Timber Creek | 2024 State TX -Linebacker-Timber Creek-6’0” 210-Pounds
Devin Green Devin Green 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Timber Creek | 2024 State TX does a terrific job of reading the play from the linebacker position. He rushes the passer in good fashion and does an excellent job of getting his hands up to alter the pass. Green makes plays on the ball in pass coverage and can completely disrupt the passing game of the opposing team. He is the type of linebacker that can disrupt both the rushing and passing attacks of the opponent. I look for Green to have a big season in 2023 for Timber Creek.
Ray’Quan Bell-Offensive Line-Westfield-6’4” 305-Pounds
Ray’Quan Bell is going to be a major target for plenty of college scouts over the next few months. Can play the guard and the tackle positions with plenty of effectiveness. Bell plays with a chip on his shoulder and can drive opposing defenders right out of the picture. From a run blocking perspective, he can be a dominating feature on the offensive line. Meanwhile, from a pass blocking perspective, he can keep opposing defenders at bay using his mix of power and speed. Bell is a lineman to keep an eye on this season.
Coen Echols Coen Echols 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Katy | 2024 State TX -Offensive Line-Katy-6’4” 290-Pounds
The Katy offensive lineman is an extremely effective run blocking tackle. He can punish opposing defensive linemen with his power. Echols has the quick feet needed to explode out of the stance and get into an opposing defensive lineman. He looks to finish every block and can drive opponents to the ground. I look for Echols to have a strong senior season in 2023 and be a target of multiple colleges. He has the potential to see the field on Saturdays in the future.
Brett Garcia Brett Garcia 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Fort Bend Travis | 2024 TX -Quarterback-Fort Bend Travis-5’10” 160-Pounds
Brett Garcia Brett Garcia 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Fort Bend Travis | 2024 TX is a quarterback that makes good decisions with the football. He is not afraid to test opposing secondaries with the deep ball. Garcia will keep his eyes down the field as he is scrambling out of the pocket. I am impressed with his arm strength and his accuracy is impressive. Garcia is a quarterback to watch out for this upcoming season. The Travis High School product has the potential to have a big season in 2023.
