To familiarize myself with the talent that IL has to offer and the current rankings on the site I am beginning a series where I will be choosing a different county and breaking down the tape of the top uncommitted 2024s from schools within the county. First up will be McHenry County. Just after a quick glance it is clear that this county brings top end talent and depth to our 2024 rankings. There is something for almost every level in this group. Let’s get to know their talents.
The 6’2″ 185 lbs athlete is an impressive prospect. His versatility is going to be huge for his recruitment. PRZ IL had him as a Top 10 WR during their last update. During his junior season it looks like Jason was utilized mainly at QB. There Penza was able to threaten defenses with his dual threat. As a passer, Jason is raw in terms of footwork. However, just like his overall athleticism, Penza is a natural as a passer. The ball jumps out of his hand when he needs to hit tight windows. He also has a lot of examples of pinpoint ball placement. On the ground, Jason has great speed and he runs with effective vision. The junior has been putting in offseason work at QB, so I am looking forward to seeing how he develops this summer/fall.
Highlights
The 6′ 190 lbs WR put together a dominant junior campaign in 2022. He finished with 65 receptions 1,010 yards, and 8 TDs. Michael has recently seen his recruitment pick up with his first offer coming in from MNSU- Mankato. Michael aligns primarily out of the slot and it fits his game perfectly. From there the playmaker is able to eat up the cushion that LBs/S give him. His burst off the line is able to put pressure on the defense. Prokos also possesses the body control to be able to run crisp routes while maintaining his speed. Michael’s ability to make his breaks at a high speed opens up sepearation for his QB consistently. Prokos also has reliable hands, and tracks the ball in the air really well. We should see him earn multiple more offers this summer/fall.
The 5’11” 175 lbs junior DB clearly is thought highly of with his Top 10 ranking at the DB position in the PRZ IL rankings. Rene has a ton of speed to offer the next level. He has a reported 4.49 laser verified 40 time. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there is any tape from his junior season. I did go back to his sophomore tape to get an idea of his game though. During that season, Rene’s speed and range was utilized heavily. They put him at safety, let him process the play, and then react in time to get in position to make the play. With testing numbers like Rene has he should be in position to earn an offer during summer camps. Keep an eye on him.

George is an intriguing prospect. He is 6’2″ 185 lbs and has speed to burn. His blend of length and speed gives him the ability to stretch the field vertically. He can beat DBs with his speed, and his soft hands allow him to maximize his size and go over the top of CBs. With the ball in his hands, George also has some quick twitch and wiggle to his game making it hard to corral him one on one. Lastly, the junior seems to be an effective route runner. George was only able to be on the field for Week 1 and 9 in 2022, so look for him to breakout this fall. He holds an offer from UW- Platteville currently.
The 5’11” 240 lbs junior OL is a compact prospect that is able to generate a solid amount of power along the interior. The key to the push that Vinny is able to create is his leverage. Tiberi turns his compact size into an advantage because of his lower body flexibility. He can play in an athletic stance while being low to the ground. That gives him the ability to dig bigger DL out of the trenches and into the second level. Tiberi also has some range to his game. He can get up to level two and stick his block. The Huntley product doesn’t hold any offers yet. However, he is receiving interest from the D2/D3 levels.

We could see a breakout year from the Jacobs LB/FB this fall. He played at 6′ 215 lbs in 2022, and is currently at 225 lbs. That size and strength matches his game very well. On defense, the tape shows a powerful LB that is a downhill thumper. When it comes to the inside run game, Paulie does a great job of mirroring the LB until he meets him in the hole. There Rudolph shows that he is an explosive tackler that generates a good pop on contact. On offense, Paulie has eye catching burst at the line of scrimmage. He is a north-south runner who quickly gets to top speed while running behind his pads. He has a low center of gravity, and dares defenders to step in front of him. Definitely keep an eye on him this fall. He is going to be bigger and better than ever.

The 6’1″ 180 lbs athlete is a name to know as a two way impact player this fall. We have Joey ranked as an LB, but this past season he made his impact at RB primarily. At RB, Joey makes the defense earn every tackle. He runs hard behind his pads and delivers the hit more often than he takes it. Scrivani also has a solid stiff arm. Joey also has effective speed to be able to attack the edges and pick up big chunks when he gets into the open field. Joey is a one cut runner who relies on his vision to find the hole, stick his foot in the ground, and get up field. I’m looking forward to seeing which position he makes his biggest impact this fall.
The 5’9″ 165 lbs junior is now a WR for Crystal Lake Central. Griffin is an explosive athlete out wide. He eats up cushions when the DB plays off, and shows off a twitchy release to beat press. Once he gets off the line, Griffin has the acceleration and speed to be able to stretch the field vertically. The deep threat does a great job of running underneath the ball downfield, and he is able to twist his body last minute to bring in the ball. Lastly, Griffin has shown he can make the concentration catches in traffic. Don’t overlook the Crystal Lake Central athlete.
Another ranked member of the Huntley OL is Jack Crudele Jack Crudele 5’9″ | 195 lbs | OL Huntley | 2024 IL . The 5’9″ 215 lbs athlete is obviously undersized, but the junior is hard to beat. I was able to get eyes on him at The Line Showcase this winter. The compact, thick OG demonstrated quick feet to be able to mirror IDL. He also used his leverage to his advantage. On tape that same leverage keys his run blocking. He gets underneath defenders and gets them off the line. Crudele won’t be for everyone, but he is worth a glimpse.
